IMHO, the best thing is to hook up a parallel connection to your main truck battery while the car is running. That way, you're charging off of the truck's alternator. Then disconnect it when you're at the field to make sure that you're not excessively draining your truck's batt. It's a much simpler install.

On GMC 08', you can conect the lead under the master cylinder to the 6mm stud on the front side of the fuse box and have 12dc at your trailer coming out the #4 pin on a 7-pin plug.
I'm not sure about other trucks but mine has 2-wire taped to the harnes from the factory, 1-between the fender and fuse box withe a 10mm Eye, this powers the trailer breaks if you have and the other wire is taped on the harnes under the master cylinder. Red / black stripe on my truck. and uses the 40amp fuse. |

Guys - thanks for the tips. Here is what I have so far. Cieling is insulated and sealed with foil lined 3/4" foam sheets cut to pop-fit up in between teh roof stringers, then sealed with AF 100 AL tape. The sides and floor have two coats of white Killz. The floor and shelfs are carpeted with a nice grey outdoor carpet. The V-nose shelves have a 1.5" x 1.5" lip that will prevent roll-off. Lots to do still, but it is taking shape nicely. I would liek to especially thank my friend John Bainathash who was staying over for a few days, and helped with the painting and construction.
Next project will be to "wire-up" the best for mulitiple charging and light locations. thanks, Jim

HD was out so I went to Lowes. It is about $15.00 per 4'x8' sheet. It took almost exactly 3 sheets to cover the cieling sections, with not too much material waisted. HD or Lowes has this type of foam and aluminum tape. Although the foam is obviously not structural - it sure seemed to add a lot to the overall frame support.

Call Ed at Southbound Trailers 1.877.814.7287. Spank'n new my trailer was about $2350. This includes the "dual" R/V style side doors, V-nose, motorcycle-side vents, drop-axle, barn doors, silver siding (colors add cost), and cut to a maximum height of 80". HOwever, I think they ended up at about 78-79". It is garagable if you have a dual door. The wheel wells are too wide for a single door. A lot of trailers are actually made in Douglas, GA under various names. Ed has the best overall, lowest overall pricing once you bring in the combination of features. I did a bunch of research into used trailers too, and the best thing is just to buy new unless you can go out an physically inspect a used trailer. Thanks, Jim PS - delivery is separate, and about $1.25 per mile.

Ever thought of utilizing an old caravan, strip out the stuff you do not need and put in what you like. All cabling, ducting and insulation are done already!
Heck, you can even leave a bed for those Nall weekends! Was it worth 2cnts? LOL |

I was suprised how nice it turned out. I wish I had pics. He sold it about 5 years ago so I have no idea where it is. But talk about nice riding and pulling. No weight and soft springs would make a perfect plane trailer.
