Sounds like Nall may be a good place to do it. My Cap will be ready in plenty of time for Nall. I already have most of the mechanical work done. I will recover and paint it over the winter. The biggest change I made was installing cans. If you are going to install cans on your Cap, MTW just came out with a new set. The p/n is MTW 110 K. The K means short. They fit awesome. Those cans, and 90mm drop flex headers basically drop right in. There is a thread somewhre on the site with pictures of the cans in my Cap.
You got lucky in the fact that your Cap doesn't need to be recovered. Mine was done in Ultracote, and has spent many of hours sitting in the Nevada desert. So basically it looks like a prune. I need to remove all of the covering which leaves behind color. That needs to be sanded off, while not removing any wood. It will be fun. Mike Darr |

Yeah Dan Baker is an exceptional guy. Everytime I try to put it together or get home to try and take some pictures of it it starts to rain. GA weather sucks in the early evenings. I'm not going to run cans on it just regular mufflers. I like to hear my planes rumble plus I would have to go in and modify the fuse for them to fit and slide in. Just dont want to do that.

I know what you are saying about the cans, but it really isn't that big a deal to drop them in that plane. It's really a piece of cake. Keep in mind, you may want to here your planes rumble, but the neighbors don't. Unless you only fly in one place that dosen't have anybody around, I would consider cans. Not to mention, you will get a little boost in power with them. IMO cans sound way better than stock mufflers. I used to really like the way a big engine sounded on stock mufflers. Now after hearing many planes on cans, I just find stock mufflers anoying. That is the reason I put cans on my Cap as soon as I got it.

Where I fly noise doesnt matter much. I fly on a 2k grass runway and all that is around us is a bunch of cotton fields. I fly at Mac Hodges place. www.hodgeshobbies.com Until they make it mandatory for us to have cans I am going to keep it stock.

I might sell mine after I recover it. To go around the color left behind use a sharp razor like a squegee and it will come right off.

The mufflers were black and the gear was regular looking. Took them to a buddy and he pollished them up.

nope, its the original gear from Carden. All aluminum, dull or painted, can be pollished and shined up like these. Adds no weight what so ever.

Once we cover the new wings I'll post pics of it. We added some graphics to the fuse last week. I'll get pictures of them this weekend.
