Default 34% Extra 300L

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd bring up our old thread from the old cirkus. Anyone made any progress on their 34%? I've made a hair.. Got a tank tray made and installed blow the wing tube.. Also got my aileron servo's in and hooked up.. Got my elevator linkages in..

Now it's the big wait for my 3W 106.. My dad agreed to help me out to buy one in about a month.. But then we have to get a FROMECO battery system, Rudder servo and pull-pull, elevator servo's, reciever, and a couple misc items.

Take your time slick.
Your doing good!

And here's a big tip. Once the plane is together... maidan it, get it trimmed out and then Just fly it.
If you think about the cost too much, or baby it too much you'll end up making your self nervous and thats not good. Don't get me wrong, unless your Bill Gates, everyone has butterflies, but you just have to relax and HUCk it!!

Well put Sleepy. The guys who don't care about their planes always have the most fun and make the most improvements. If your always nervous about losing the plane, it takes all the fun out of it. It may sound strange but when somebody asks me about if i get nervous when i fly a certain plane, I basically tell them I don't care if it takes a dirt nap.

My motto is.. as soon as a plane is together I write it off, finanically and emotionally.
I'm not out to kill any of them... but its a fact. Everyone crashes!
If you can't afford to crash, then step down in plane size, because your in too deep.

Just the facts mame!!

Man i just got my first big one about a month ago..... Your not gonna beleive the difference ..... Its like youve been just playing with your toys un till you step up.......Fly it like you stole it yeah... But a responsible pilot that takes care of his airframe is gonna get the good sponsors.

Dude... I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Thats the last thing you should even think about.
I mean don't be a dick when you fly... just be polite, promote the hobby with diginity,
and beat your plane like a PIG!
A company will sponsor an above average pilot that has a HUGE personality and gets the crowd excited, or has the ability to have everyone at any field leave that day and know hiis name. They would pick that guy up way before they will sponsor a guy who is just awsome pilot.

Sponsors are looking for someone to be a leason to thier product. So if your just good, but have the people skills of a grapefruit... ain't happening.

I guess my post is.. don't worry about the "carrear" pilot stuff.. just HUCK it!

Focus on getting good and having fun...

PS: I used to race 1/8 scale on road cars... and had several sponsors... and I was a good driver but far from the best, but I busted balls with every one there, and took over the announcing mike every once in a while,
and basically HAD fun. That attracted more sponsors to me.. At the end of my run (wife and kids came around and time vanished) I didn't pay for much when it came to racing... and like I said I was good... but no where the best!( and also don't get me wrong I tried hard... but some of the guys were just inhuman!)

hey sleepyc what ever happend to the e-bay 540 edge? i don't want to hijack the thread, but now that the cirkus has left town i have no reference for building mine. i just got all the equipment together and it is sitting on the bench waiting for some attention. i sure would like to know about how to distribute the power required for all those big servos. i'll be using hitec 5645s. got any reccomendations? sure could use the help as nobody around here has too much experience with the bigger stuff. thanks. you can pm if you want to keep the thread clean.

I can agree with most replies up there!!! Take your time, make sure it is right! And since this IS your first GS'er, I'm warning you now, do NOT fly that bird at full power!!!! They can and will flutter at will, if flying too fast!!! I've fluttered one, and fortunately, it didn't crash. I caught the flutter in time, before it could cause any damage.

I usually use full power on take off, and once I start to make my procedure turn, I'm already coming back off the power!!! The airplane will fly fine at 1/2 power, or under. Make sure that the CG is fine, all linkages are in and all machine screws have LOCTITE on them!!! If you need any info, just holler at me, I'll help ya out!!!

Later!

Chris~
