Ok guys....Me and Chris R were joking about how fast a 34% Extra would go if it had no wings and was driving straight down an asphalt highway at WOT...LOL. But on a more serious note, how fast would that plane go? Setup is a DA100 on muffs, Vess 27C, about 27lbs. Any thoughts?

I GPS'd my 33% Cap when I had the Brison 95, Menz 26-10 and got 106. I was really expecting about 80-85. Made me rethink those full throttle passes.

I want to know the speed with no wings and on a nice flat asphalt road. I think it would haul ass if it were controllable.

It can only go as fast as the rpm x the pitch of the prop converted into feet per rev. Just a little over 90-110 would be my guess. Even with this fact, you have to add in drag factor and prop efficiency.

With over-rev of the motor with no wings.... motor would probably spin up to 10K or so, maybe higher. At the propellors max efficiency, and RPMs unloaded at 10K, you are looking at a max speed of 94.69696969 MPH. If the motor were to free-spool up to 15K, theoretically you could achieve at max efficiency, 142.0454545 MPH.

Tank Please Chick your math...
At Free spool, my max efficiency I calculated was 142.045454545454. Man.. and to think you were going to let that slide by. That is a disgrace my friend.. a pure and simple disgrace.

I majored in Beerology in College.
Then Flunkology, and Babeology came with that. Should have focused on makinbankology, or possibly studyology... been better off now!!

Now you can't just go by the pitch - it's usually measured at the flat backside of the blade airfoil. The airfoil is actually oriented at something like +2 degrees compared to the pitch rating line. Also, props use non symmetrical airfoils, so they still generate lift (lots of it) at 0 AoA.
Combination of the above will give you something like 20%-30% increase over the baseline top speed calculated solely from pitch rating. A plane with 10 pitch prop at 7500 RPM should in theory have maximum speed of 71 mph, yet most are actually clocked at 90-100 mph range. P.
