Default Brison 5.8 too heavy for 35% giles 202

Just wondering what you guys thought about a brison 5.8 95cc engine in a 35% Wild Hare giles 202. It is a little smaller than most 35%'s at 93" ws. The motor weighs in at 6 lbs and I think it might be to heavy for the plane. I emailed Tom at wild hare and he said it would work but it is not the best pwerplant for the plane. What do you guys think. Thanks

Robc,
It's a lil heavy, Tom recomends a 5lb engine if you don't want to start creating new places for batteries and rudder servos. The 5.8 will certainaly fit and the Giles can take it. This plane is built like a Russian Tank. But be watchfull of the CG and make sure you have everything sealed against flutter and I would buy some stock in either Loctite or Permatex as I am sure you will become quit familiar with their products.

Good Luck.

I dont think I am going to buy it but it seems that they sell cheaper than the zdz's and the 3w's. I just think the other motors are so overpriced but I guess you get what you pay for. I think I will hold out for a used zdz80 but they are hard to find for a decent price.

If the brison is anything like my FPE 5.8, its smooth as silk.
In fact I think my FPE vibrates less than a ZDZ (not doggin ZDZ I think its a great motor as well)

My FPE is a STRONG pulling motor, and works fine I believe even in a 35% plane.
In fact I have one mounted in my JTEC PANZEL that will fly in the next week or so.

Brison and FPE 5.8's I think are a great motor for the money.

So for the giles, just make sure the weight isn't an issue, but vibration shouldn't be.

my 2 cents!

The FPE 5.8 does vibrate less than the old ZDZ 80.....but the new ZDZ 80 Super on the other hand is a awsome. It's smoother and makes more power. I'm loving mine. Don't be afraid of the big singles....great power and far less money than a twin. And yes...that is a FPE 5.8 in my Suk in my avatar.

The other day the 3W80 was on sale at AI, not sure if it still is. TBM also had a sale on the ZDZ Super 80. Very reasonable prices for them both.

I've got a Brison 6.4 on the same 202. It flies just fine. Use a high torque single aileron servo with good linkage and a single rudder servo. Get a carbon fiber wing tube if you like to do hard walls and waterfalls and fly the dickens out of the plane balanced at the center of the wing tube.

The 5.8 will work just fine and you'll love the plane and it's performance. By not going crazy with a bunch of high mAh redundant battery systems and a carbon fiber tailwheel along with a fiberglass spinner the weight stays down to most pleasurable levels.
