Hey guys.
my friend Matt "Sandbag Special" and I went to Lowes a couple weeks ago and got some half inch bluecore foam. we are building some giant glow powered Extra 260's. mine is a smaller version of Matt's foamy. mine has a 60" Ws. Matt's is about twice the size of mine . I started really cranking down on building it and it is coming along great! i used some really strong ply for the motor mount. as you will see in the build pics it explains it self. I used some square plywood sitcks for some nose re-inforcement aswell. the sides will hav the cheeks like most Electric shocky type foamys. that will re-inforce the back part of the fuse also with some Tri-stock balsa re-inforcing it too. The Leading edges of the wing will hav some rounded balsa leading edge you can buy at your LHS. and as you see in the pictures i put 2 square plywood sticks for spars. those will get covered up with Ultracote or Zagitape or sim.... i still gotta design the elevator and side/cheeks....i put the wings on and held it up and i say it is around 2 pounds. maybe less idk i need a scale.. Motor... I have a Magnum 45 but I don;t think that will be enough power to hover this giant foamy. I also have a OS 52four stroke but it has some prblems and needs to be fixed. other then that i will update on the plane and pics and servos motor etc... specs. WS: 60" Length:54" more specs to come!

If it comes out over 5.5lbs I have sworn to myself that I will use my YS-110.

I used to do a lot of these. Tons of cheap fun. Here's a few of mine from a few years ago.

Actually it's a Vari-Ez, Rutan's original design. My father built it 23 years ago and it still runs like a clock. The white plane in the pic is a Velocity, 4 seat canard with retracts he built as well around 6 years ago. And to answer ure question, once the check ride is complete in a week or so, it is mine = ).

nice, I love the canards. The velocities are one of the Best. I only need 3 more hours to solo, I bet you know what my first plane is going to be.
