I need good info on Electrics.

OK FG resouce guru's . I would like to know of a website where I can read about how to pick electric motors, esc and Etc. I also would like info on the lipo's C-rating.. I have a friend who has been asking me suff. But really would like a good info site. Or if you have good info pass it along. E-flite has been getting better about how they do thier product line. I just tell my buddy to remember 150+Watts per pound and you're good. But in truth I'd like to know more myself.

A Lipo's C rating is how many times it's capacity it can be discharged at. For example a 10c 1300 mAH battery could be discharged at 13 amps maximum. Most batteries nowadays are rated at between 15 and 20c though it's always better to run them at a lower rate than that to help their life span.
As far as a website for helping you learn about electric power systems I can't think of one off the top of my head but the power system forum on RC Groups probably has something. If you have anymore questions I will try and answer them as best I can.

Yeah Quinn is right about the Power Systems forum on RCG, a lot of info, in fact it can get overwhelming. Same with the Battery & Charger forum. If you have specific questions we can probably answer them for you.

OK.. well... the "C" rating is the number they use to lie to you about the amount of current the battery can dump as a multiple of the packs capacity...
Example... a 5300 mah cell that is labeled 20C Continuous, will for little brief period of time dump 106 amps... like for 10 seconds once every 2 minutes... What they REALLY mean is it will dump about 40 amps continuous IF you have decent cooling...
Don't get this wrong... the batteries WILL dump the current... but they will get HOT!!!

If you want really good info on electrics, you should send Splash a private message. His name is Jeff, and he's from E-flightline. He has really good electric set-ups and equiptment for a really good price. I recomend you to talk to him about electrics. He does electric conversions for planes up to 35%. I really like his batteries and gearboxes for small electric motors.

Mithrandir not all batteries are overrated on their C ratings and there are quite a few cells that have come to market recently that have been able to hold a 20C discharge the tanic steel packs can do it as well as the common sense rc 20c's. though like you said it really depends on the ammount of cooling the batteries have.
