Default Rcexl ignition question

I just installed a Rcexl ignition on my Brison 6.2 and having a problem. The engine will start and run a little and backfire/stop. I have adjusted the timing each way but all I get is a backfire when it hits and spins the prop off. Anyone know what might be wrong???

The first RCexel ignition I installed on my 3W-150 did the same thing, run for about ten seconds and quit. Flip the prop again and maybe get a back fire out of it. After it cooled it would do the cycle all over again. It ended up being a bad ignition and it was replaced without a problem. The engine has run flawlessly since I have installed the replacment ignition module.

First, does you engine have throttle coupling spark, If so you have to lock it at 28-30 deg before top dead center for the RCexl ignitions to work right, If this is not the case look at the recall notice attached below.

The notice is for twin cylinder ignitions only

Thanks,

Yes, it had the manual advance and I took off the arm and locked it at 28*BTD. I have moved it a little each way to see if it would help but it will just backfire hard and spins the prop off. Checked the ignition and it was made in late June and does not have the white band on the wire. Anything else to check??

Where is a good place to send the engine in to have it checked out to see if it's the engine or ignition???

Hey Milton the date on mine says 2009 11 17 should I open it up and check for the band?
Theres nothing wrong with my engine, it runs fine but I had it apart just to check everything over and I remembered this recall.

Not going to hurt to check it out but I don't think it is one of the recalls. The recalls were from the end of 2010 until about May of 2011.

On another note, The recall ignition just would not hand start, They would start and run good with a electric starter.

Was not a back firing problem.
