Hey fellas,
I'll be shooting up to the NORTHCOAST CHALLENGE GIANT SCALE AIR RACES AUG 18 - 20, In Ashtabula, Ohio. I'll probably be there Saturday and maybe Sunday, I'll be covering the event for the Giants. Doing some Video interviews and filming the action. If you have never seen these planes fly and your close by, come check it out! 230+ MPH with the BIG unlimited planes, and the starting death dive is something to behold.... (think 10' wingspan planes diving for the deck at full throttle from 400+ feet, leveling out at 20' and turning left in .5 seconds... the G forces are insane. This racing is SICK... and a really good time even to just watch! If you need a MAP go to http://www.mentorrc.com/ there are directions located there. Robert V from Vess props will be there and i'm sure a few other manufactures so BRING CASH!!! ![]() I know I'll be going home with a few 50cc VESS props! Also, TEAM SPEED DEMON will be there... Good guys... hopefully I'll be getting a nice video interview with Scott and his sons! See you guys there!

I am a Clevelander, but i don't know Bernie.
Sorry. I know Scott and his family, they race for Team Speed Demon. Last year I went to watch took my (at the time) 8 month old son, and Scott and his wife treated me and my boy like one of the family. In fact just like the aerobatic part of this hobby, EVERYONE I talked to at the races were just straight up good people. I can't wait to watch again this year. And the funny part is, I usually HATE watching anything without flying, but this stuff is so far outside the way I fly, I seriously just enjoy watching the guys fly. (Not to say if I ever come across $5 - 6000 laying around, I wouldn't want to give it a shot!)

Sleepy,
You're hanging with some of the nicest guys in the sport with Team Speed Demon. And they certinaly set the pace on the "fun" side! Biff, I know you WANT to get on the sticks yourself......come on......jump in! I don't have to tell you how much fun it is. Look for a little "Leading Edge" article I just submitted to Max on USRA Racing soon....... |

See second page of link!
http://www.flyrc.com/articles/rumble_01.shtml At Rantoul, the Dominator, Formula 1, Formula 1 GT and Unlimited classes competed. Lanier Dominators, enlarged Quickie 500 designs powered by Moki 2.10s, and the 42% scale Reno-style ships flown in the Zenoah-powered Formula 1 classes are helping expand the sport because they are among the most affordable options for both newcomers and serious racers. Several designs have emerged as leaders in the Formula 1 category, including GR-7s, Proud Birds, Shoestrings, Cosmic Winds, Kellys and Pole Cats. On the Unlimited side, engines ranged from 280cc Herbransons with “mil spec” cylinders, DA 150s and ZDZ 160s to Aero 200s. Unlimited aircraft have a 55-pound weight limit and the motor must weigh in at less than 14 pounds. Airframes, again scale versions of Reno racers, included such designs as the Vendetta, Miss America, Miss Ashley and Corsair.
