I own no big airplanes but i did get a chance to fly a composite ARF extra a week ago. I have to say the pucker factor is rather high as i could not afford to replace this plane should something go awry.
On the other hand I mostly fly 46 sized profiles and I have to say it was like flying in slow motion. Yeah I liked it !!! I live in Eagle river Alaska, I am an active member of the Profile Brotherhood, I LOVE flying 3D. I currently fly an OMP edge, two MOJO's, A fat Free taco, two shockflyers (one with a VPP prop almost completed). A Chinn YAK ready to cover, and a laundry list of planes yet to be built .Oh yeah I LOVE flying 3D. |

Lomcevek - I have several profiles and 35% planes. While the big ones do fly awesome, you can get a similar feeling with a bigger profile. I have the OMP 65 Yak and it flies like it is in slow-mo....lots of fun and less pucker for bringing it down low. If you haven't tried one of the bigger profiles, make sure you do...they certainly feel different than the 40 sized. OMP has the 65, the 80 inch Edge and Yak, the hybrid. There's also the bigger Mojos or the Katana 70 (new version).

Well I think I like you's guys. To answer a few questions. I have flown a larger profile (MOJO 60) Space is quickly becoming a problem as to where to store these airplanes. I have decided to stop crashing and as a result instead of cylcing through aircraft they are piling on one another.
As for the Fat Free Taco I believe the story goes like this. There was a desire to have a 25 sized portable profile that could do decent 3D. Thus an airplane was made and it was covered in all yellow. Someone made a comment that it looked like a taco and the name stuck. There was a redesigning of the airplane to shave off some weight and voila the "Fat Free Taco" was born. That is just my understanding and I could be completely wrong. |
