Sorry for getting your hopes up when you get the notification of activity on this thread. I'm nowhere near Germany at the moment, but I was stationed in Bamberg from 1987-1990. I'm proud to say that my youngest son is now serving and is stationed in Illesheim (about an hour from you). We've spent many hours at the flying field together and I have to say that flying just isn't the same without him here. Anyway, he's looked around there and hasn't really found anything. If you find out about any events within driving distance, please post them here and I'll pass the info on to him. He doesn't have any R/C equipment with him, but I'm sure he'd like to stop by and check it out.
...and thanks for your service! |

Thanks for your service! I lucked out BIG TIME getting stationed here
Yeah so far all I have been flying is my little park flyer around town. I have my PAU Bulldog but getting through the red tape here and finding a club has not been easy - even with me speaking some German now. Yes if you hear anything please let me know. What does your son do in the military? I have 3 MOS's now and I just made the E7 / SFC list!! |

Here's a contact. A club I visited a few, well, maybe 6 or 7 years ago. It's near the Bodensee in southern Germany.
www.mfc-ostrachtal.de. The webmaster speaks english very well. and I think the website even translates. Good luck, and Thank You! |

Thanks! I am going to check out that club. I also found a great hobby shop in Hallstadt:
K & K Modellbau - http://www.modellflugshop24.de/ For anyone else in the Bamberg area. I am sure there are a TON of others. There is one right next to my house I will visit today. This year I plan on going to the 3W Christmas show! |

I live downtown and from my flat you can see the Dom and of course Michelsberg! Oh wow so your son is probably in Illesheim or Ansbach.

Have you found anything? I moved from the US to France in August, thought it was going to be tough finding a club and dealing with all the local regulations, paperwork, etc. Turned out to be really easy, have met a ton of great guys, and the club I joined took care of all the paperwork for me.

Looking at your pictures from your home brings back great memories. I lived in Darmstadt for four years on a third floor flat. Probably the best experience of my life. I had an awesome view also.

Hello everyone! Well sorry for the lack of posts here. No I have not found a club but I have been flying just small airplanes at my work and around my house. I have been up to a lot lately; play in a few bands, got married and I am a Dad now.
I would still like to find a club to fly with. Hopefully before winter lol |

Where is the local hobby shop?? Thats what I did when I was there. Once you find a club its going to be alot of fun. One thing you will notice about the Germans is there building skills. There phenominal.
