I own both and neither one will disappoint.
DA is based here and the customer service is A1. Power wise and weight wise there neck and neck... So which one can you get on a deal?!?!

I currently have a second hand ZDZ 50 NG, that I have been told has had about 40 flight, but I have a bid in on a DA 50 for £300 on ebay, brand new, and I have a buyer lined up for the ZDZ if I get the DA. I think the exhaust port sizes are the same, so I will keep the in cowl pitts-style muffler that came with the ZDZ.
So ZDZ or DA? |

To bee 100% honest... I think my ZDZ pulls a little harder...
But both are super realiable. Both are light. I say get both and build 2 planes...... I did!!

lol, planes are no where near the price you pay for them over here. WH Edge in USA $399, in UK £399. Big difference.

I had one of the very first ZDZ 50's in the country before they came out with the NG and loved it. Never any problems out of it. Never had a DA so I can not comment there.

Ok my opinion...but no contest...DA! DA has got it going on. Especially with excellent engine's. I have seen both and decided to buy DA I have a 50 and a 150. I have seen more problems with ZDZ's at the field.
I have to say DA all the way unless you are getting a warbird and need weight so get a G-62 HA!

This decision seems to be getting more difficult, but most people who have owned both say that the ZDZ and DA are pretty-much on a par, with perhaps the ZDZ being better, and with one person I have talked to the DA was defintiely better. Just DA owners belive that the DA is better, and just ZDZ owners believe the ZDZ is better.

better - is such a strange comparison- better at what ?
power ? looks? good throttle response? factory help? So far - The ZDZ 50 setups I have tried seem notably stronger . I use tuned exhausts or can mufflers . But having never run the DA50 on an optomized tuned setup - I do not know for certain. |

i HAVE NEVER SEEN A ZDZ 50 IN MY LIFE BUT.
I am new to gas, and am only 16, done glow for a little while. I stuck the DA 50 on my 30% TOC or aviation models now, YAK and its awsome. Firstime I started it, choke on, flipped it about 15 times, pop, choke off, flipped once and it fired right up on the ground in my front yard, ran freakin awsome!!!! soo much power. I since have about 12 flights, and it just gets better and better. I have never emptied the tank since then and it sits in the garage with about 1/4 of 20oz in there ever night. I can come out and after about 6 to 10 flips with the choke on it pops and then starts right up. I leaned the low end 1/4 turn and the high end maybe 1/8 or 1/16 for some odd reason, I dont know why but I just felt like it. It idles really well at 1700 but I fly at 2000 and land at 1850 on the rpm meter just because I am cautous. Most everyones yaks like mine weigh 18lbs or more, I have not weighed mine but it halls the thing around soo well it is unbeliavable, I think I can hover right at or a little under half throttle (no throttle mixes yet), no joke, and its just breaking in. it goes strait up at 40mph I think, thats what it looks like, it is unbeliavable, I am just soo happy cuz all I have had before is a saito 100 and a os.50sx. and they cant compare. I would get the DA. dont know about the zdz but The DA will make you very happy! |
