Default Pleasant Interuption of flying.

I often fly Foamies in the field beside the house. It is a field a little over 4 acres right along the highway. About a week and a half ago, I was flying and noticed a car pull into the driveway and watch while I was flying. I didn't think anything more about it until today.

I had just finished a new Adrenalin and was out flying in the field. I had flown out the first battery and was wringing out the kinks with the second battery when I noticed a pickup pull into the drive and turn around. It came back to where I was flying and pulled off the side of the road. I heard someone ask, "Can we come out?"
I just shouted back "Sure!" Then went ahead and landed.

A couple came walking out and I was surprised by the first thing the Husband said. "We just moved back to the area from Hawaii. She used to fly there and has been trying to find someplace to fly." This was a couple in their twenties, very nice people.

Now, the reason that I was surprised by what was said. It is unusual to find a lady flying to start with. Then as we were talking, I found out that she was the one that started flying, then got him to start flying. She had a few planes, mostly trainers, a Big Stick, and an un-specified 3D airplane. He is still training on a buddy box.

We talked for about a half hour, discussing where people were flying in the area, the clubs and hobby shops that are around and different events. I also talked with them about the Flying Giants, and sites on the net that sell RC equipment.

It just goes to show that you never know when or where you will have the chance to share your love of the hobby. Today I took the time to talk with some good folks, and hopefully made some new friends.

Great story Wiz,

I love that kind of thing. When my son and I are flying in my backyard, we get a lot of people slowing down and watching, never anybody stopping, though.
