Default 30% AM YAK v Fuison 90

I know this is a long shot but, is there anyone out there that has flown both? Or something close? As everyone knows the Fusion is the greatest profile out there. Just to let you know where I at, I'm flying my fusion on the deck and can hover low as long as I like, rolling harrier's 10' off the deck and so on. Everyone at my club says I should go gas, and I may have a chance to get a Aviation Model 30% YAK with DA 50. Will see a big difference, will it be more stable in show flight, more fun to fly, what will I notice?

Personally, I would not recommend anyone down the 50cc route. After having done it....I wish I wouldn't have done so. When I jumped to 33% planes.....it made the 50cc seem foolish. If you shop and pick your componets carefully, a 33-35% bird can be done for a few hundred more than a 50cc bird. You'll also see that they fly smoother, and just generally fly better all around. You can also find some smoking deals on used planes in this size. Again shop carefully some great deals can be had.

I have seen the fusion fly many times at Huckfest by some of the best pilots and it was sick... but same goes for the AM YAK.

My experience moving from smaller planes to larger planes, everything becomes less work.
(if the plane is built light)
It seems like the 30%+ planes are just smoother, are WAY less dependent on good weather to fly well, meaning that 5 - 15 mph winds really don't have to much effect on the big dogs, and the bigger planes seem to instill A lot more confidence.

For me, bigger = more stable and more confidence.
(And I agree with neo 33% fly 10x better than 30%)
I'm up to 35% now, and personally I hate to fly anything under 30% now... it just isn't as much fun....(And I'm not dogging smaller planes... I just don't have the confidence I do with the biggers ones.)

That being said, the fusion seems to be the BOMB when it comes to slimer planes.
So... there's my unprofessional personal opinion.

I would agree with all above comments as well. Don't waste money on a plane less then I'd say 33%. In this case, bigger is better! My son flew a 30% aircraft for a long time in IMAC and then moved to a 34% aircraft. It made him look awesome and it made his results go from 5th and 6th's to 1st and 2nd's instantly. The closer you get to full scale, the much easier they become to fly. Alot less quirky and jerky and very stable in wind.

The diff you will see is the knife edge needs more speed but the 50cc yak will make you not want to fly your fusion. theres 2 plane i wont be with out those are a big gasser and the 90 sized fusion for me 50cc is the biggest i can transport and store. but i can take my 50cc and my fussion both in the back of my truck so im really happy for that. If your getting a good deal on the 50cc yak go for it you wont be unhappy with it.

The fusion is definetly a sweet flying bird. I got to fly Mike's at the huckfest and it was definetly bad ass. I have also owned the AM 30% Yak, and of the several 50cc birds I have had, it has been my favorite to date along with the EF 87" Yak. They both flew like much larger models. You can definetly get low and slow with the Yak without problems, the only difference will notice is the Yak will carry a little more speed and inertia through the manuevers. Both have NO bad habits.

I know bigger is better and all that, but I'm not ready to put up the money for anything bigger than a 30%. In fact, a guy at my field has the AM YAK, it's maybe 6 months old, and not been flown hard-- more like sport flying. He's going bigger, just like some of you say is better. He also said he may take my Fusion as a trade-in, something for him to kick around. We have not talked money yet, but I'm going to see him tomorrow at our field. If I had the money I'd do the 33% thing but this may be the best I can do for now. Kids, Wife, Bills, you know.

I have the 30% AM Yak and I love it, I almost never fly my glow airplane anymore, you will not be dissapointed. GO FOR IT!
