The reason I'm asking is closest local field (5 mins away) has size, engine, and noise restrictions. The closest field where I can fly the bigger sized planes is 1 hour away. I need to practice my IMAC sequences as much as possible. I thought that the 2x2 might be practical as a daily trainer, if the flight characterists are good. I just don't want to get a dog. Can't find much in the way of reviews or opinions on it though. Maybe it hasn't been a very good seller for Comp-Arf and they're trying to unload their inventory.

The C-ARF 2x2m Extra flies very nice for its size. It does all the 3D stuff, but - off course - needs a bit more attention than a bigger plane.

Here are some pics of my Extra: http://users.tsunamihost.ch/~swissmo...mpositearf.htm

There is absolutely NO SIZE REQUIREMENT in any IMAC class. The 2x2 is not legal beacuse it is out of the 10% limit for Scale Dimensions. I know Cardens are stretched out to the 10% limit for better tracking. Since this plane has a way longer fuse than it should for its wingspan (more that 10%) it is not IMAC legal.

It would only be legal in Basic if its outside the 10% rule.

There is a size requirement in anything above basic. it has to have 80" wingspan! You could fly a foamy in basic too! Vid not trying to challenge you but can you prove it to me in writing that the 2*2 is illegal for imac?

80" is IMAA rule not IMAC rule.

No one is enforcing the pilot/dash rule since next year it disappears. Though I've heard your canopy must be see through (tinted is ok, just not opaque) for next year

OK Youngflyer, here is the link to the IMAC Rule book:

http://www.mini-iac.com/DesktopModul...id=57&tabid=90

Let's start by reading rule 3.2 in page 7. And I quote "The Basic class is open to all competitors with a biplane or monoplane aircraft. There is no minimum size requirement for any class."

Now let's read rule 6.5 in page 11. And I quote "Fuselage width, height and aircraft planform or any other variations shall not exceed 10% of scale, with the exception of airfoils and size/shape of control surface within the scale outline rule."

With that said, let's find the dimensions of the Full Scale Extra 300. According to the www.extraaircraft.com website, the dimensions are:

Length: 274 in.
Wingspan: 291 in.

Now lets look at the Composite ARF website for the 2x2 Extra dimensions.

Length: 78 in.
Wingspan: 78 in.

Ok so lets get the Composite Extra 2x2 Scale Percentage in reference to wingspan:

78/291= 26.8% Scale.

Now let's bring down the Full Scale Extra dimensions down to 26.8% scale.

Length: 274 in x .268 = 73.4 inches long
Wingspan: 291in x .268 = 78 inches wide (wingspan)

Anyone care to do the deviation-from-scale-percentage math for the fuselage? My brain is fried.

Does anyone know if Comp-ARF will be releasing a clear canopy for the 2x2?

Cheers

I would be really suprised if someone got turned away at an IMAC flying a Comp 2x2. I didn't see any measuring tapes at the one I competed in.

I guess if you started cleaning up in advanced or unlimited with it the tape might come out.

Getting back to your original question. Bogan has one flying here with a DZ 160. It tracks nicely for sequence work and 3D's well.

Nup, just would be happy to see a "small" plane mix it in the higher categories...
