Never tried G2, but G3, G3.5, AFPD, ReflexXTR and FSOne all run great on my iMac.
If you fly or model scale aircraft of any variety, G3.x seems to have the biggest stock base of planes (via 7 add ons), and the most active user group creating new stuff all the time. The quality of the models they're doing is great. The graphics and fluid-ness of flight seem to be best in FSOne (with G3.x and AFPD as close seconds), but that's just MY machine and setup. When I was learning to hover and torque roll, G3 seemed to present the biggest challenge - it was WAY easy in AFPD, and after I mastered it in the sim, ended up totalling a plane. Went back to the sims, and spent a few hours in G3... Next day, hovers IRL were workable... not butter-smooth, but that's a function of practice. Honestly, at $200 bucks each, it's not too painful to set up all of the big flight sim players... spend a few hours with each to get the best that each one has to offer. Heck, my Tx cost more than all of the flight sim software I own, and 1 plane will often be worth more than the computer system I fly sim on... -Case |

I have been with Real Flight since day 1. I remember when real flight came out with the first sim they have. I basically learn to fly on there when I was younger. Then they came out with Real Flight Delux with helicopters. Learn then to fly helis on there. Then they came out with G2 which was a pain in the but to get to work on my computer but after buying a new computer it work perfect. Then I upgraded to the usb g2. Finally G3 then g3.5. G3 is a challenge but at least when you go out to the field it will be easy for you.

Had the AFPD until I got a G3.5. Immediately sold the AFPD since the G3.5 was so much better.
