So the secrets out.......I was debating between a Dalton and this kit for sportsman next year in IMAC. Well I found the Aerotech online for a great price so I couldn't pass it up.
Instead of my hammer hands trying to build this one I have handed it off to the best builder in Vegas! Stan Lapointe. He built all of the Team Vegas Dalton's that are sweeping up in Sportsman/Intermediate/Unlimited. So I fgured he could build this one for me also. Right now I don't have any current pictures, but it came in 2 large boxes. Quality so far looks good (typical from the Aerotech kits I've built and seen). Here's the plan (1) 8411 on throttle (2) 8611A on each aileron (1 ) 8611A on each elevator (2) 8611A on Rudder (push/pull config) (3) matchboxes Smart fly turbo reg Smart Fly powerbox pro (2) Troybuilt Models 4800 Lion (1) Troybuilt Models 2400 LIon (ignition) CF wing tube from TBM 3W157 CS motor Pefa Cannisters 50cc Dubro tank Haven't decided on a synth RX or not yet. Mods to plane.........We are going to lighten it up a little in the tail area (cutouts similar to the Dalton's) and some cutouts in the bottom foam. Going to try to inset the gear and make a cover for it (similar to the 35% AW QB 260 so that the gear go into the fuse similar to scale.

Only update----
I stopped by today to drop off the last of the servos. All that's left to get is the motor which is being delivered this week! All the sheeting is cut and just about ready to be glued to the foam. Some of the pieces have already been glued to the foam. He didn't want to start on the fuse until he sheeted the wings (since they are so large). I'll stop by later this week and take some pictures.

On a side note........
I flew Ryan Rebels Aerotech Extra on a DA150 at the Shreveport IMAC. I really liked the way his handled though he didn't have enough aileron throw on low rate for me and his throttle was really ratchity....but that's what he likes. Then today I got to finally fly Eric Powells Extra 300 on a 3W157. That thing was a rocket! It went were I placed it and flew really nice. Eric likes more throw than I do on every rate. He also doesn't use as much expo as I do so his elevator was really sensitive. But I could tell that the plane was nice. He said that no differntial mixing was needed, and it was balanced just right on the CG. Maybe a hair of mixing for knife edge but that didn't stop him from knife edge patterns!

Dude I would put three 8611's on each wing and two 8611's per elevator half.

1 8611A per elevator is fine. But I would REALLY put 3 on the wing.... just 2 cents....

I'm not worried about it at all. I've watched several folks fly both JR and Hitecs (only 2 per wing) on the Daltons and this plane. For precision flying I won't need 3. If I want to start 3-D I have 2 35% planes to do that with.
