Default Horizon Does it again!!

Just thought I'd drop a line here about Horizon and JR. I know lately that JR/Horizon has gotten a bad rap about their servos, and I'm guilty as well for I switched to all Hitec 5955's lately as well, but let me tell everyone about the service that Horizon has always given me. I sent in the 10 near new 8611a's(less than 10 flights- gear slop and 4 that just locked up) and one old 8411 that needed gears. Just got them back today, and Suprise!! The note said: "Sorry for your troubles with your servo's. We checked out and replaced gears in 4 of them, 4 had bad motors so we are replacing with 4 new in the package, and the other 2 tested ok(and they are). Since we don't have any gears in stock for the 8411, we are replacing with a new in the box 8411..Hope yougood luck with your flying..Chad"

NO Charges for any of this!!!This is the third time that Horizon has replaced or repaired servo's, some of them 2nd hand and out of warranty, for me without any charges!!!

Thanks for the great service, and hats off to Horizon. As soon as they get their servos' gears up to par, I'll be flying nothing but JR again!!! Jim

I had one of my four servos get locked up in my comp-arf the other day while flying around. It was really windy w/ alot of crosswind and my rudder was locked and i couldnt move it. I safley brought it down, and took off the servo arms, and one of the 8611 servo gears that holds the arm on broke in half! That is really wierd. i have no idea why! So now i have to send in the servo to be repaired again. I have had the same servo to be replaced before... But i really like their service. I have send them a few 8611 servos because of bad gears and they replaced them for free! i really like their service!

Horizon does have some great customer service. The only experience I've had with any of their companies is with Parkzone. First I had a battery connector come desoldered mid flight, causing my Stryker to hit hard in a full throttle pass. Thankfully, the plane was fried, but the battery was fried. They sent me a new one for free. They said they were sorry about the crash and that they're glad that the plane suffered no damage. Then, I had a receiver causing glitches. I e-mailed them, sent in mine, and about 5 days later got a new one in the mail. First flight with it, I had the combat module on, and when it was shot by my neighbor's Stryker, the thing caught fire! I e-mailed them, and they promptly sent me a second one. My neighbor's also had a couple issues with the cheap Parkzone radios, and has had great service with them too.

I have had similar service from JR/Horizon. I just sent in 2 of the older 8611s and 4 8411s, They repaired or replaced all of them for FREE. I will be a long time customer of theirs because of this.

asked a JR rep about the 8611a servo issues and what they plan to do to fix it...."there are no issues with the servos, it must be your set up, there are 1000's of happy customers with no reported issues with gear slop or any other problems." So, I switched to the 5955's, I will go back to JR when they admit and fix the problems with the servos...other than that they are a great company. But with all due respect, how many times do you have to send a servo in to get it fixed, when it shouldnt have to be sent in at all?

I have used 8611, 8611A, 8411, 5735, 5945, and 5955 all got some slop except the 5955. The Jr servos were the worst by far. They got so bad I had to send them in. They were fixed for free also by Horizon. I still haven't had to send in a hitec.

Why does Horizon have steller service? Maybe becaues they have no choice.

I had the exact opposite experience a month ago - $300 bill to change gears in 8 servos (negotiated it down to $100) and a refusal to do anything about a burned up servo they rebuilt a year ago ....

hey dont you guys know how to change a gear set??? i mean its not like changing a motor in the servo. i little tip if a gear goes bad turn it over and look at the number printed on the gear. i'll bet if you own other cheaper jr servos they also will use the very same gear. most gear sets will fit several servos. check it out.. i have been using jr for a very long time and too this date i've had no problems with any servos. and i dont care what servo you use over time they will all develope gear train slop, that is if your flying.. also remember most of the so called 3-d planes have very large control surfaces and the little servos will wear out sooner than you think. especialy when multi servos are used, because they are fighting each other. i guess this conversation could go on for ever. my 3 cents
