Hitec625, for what its worth, I 'll second Bodywerks opinion. In that the plane is not suiteable for a 50cc gasser if you want all out 3D performance which seems to be exactly what the machine is designed for. This plane is in that niche where it is too big for glow and not big enough for gas. The wing area is not going to be adequate. I have a WM Extra 300 with an 81" wingspan and a wing area of 1175 sq.in. I had a Moki 1.8 in it which was inadequate so I switched to DA50. At 15 lbs, with a wing loading of 29.5, one is hard pushed try any 3D low down unless you are in the league of John Glezellis. IMHO, one should either stick with a 72" machine, 1000 sq.in area and an OS 160. If you are thinking about a DA 50, something in the 84"-87" WS range and more importantly with a wing area of around 1350 sq.in. minimum would be the way to go.

I think the BME 55 would be perfect for this airframe should it ever come out!

It's gotta be around 15 pounds, which is almost a 31 ounce wingloading. To give you an idea, my 35% 260 (104" wingspan) has a 31 ounce wingloading, and I think it could stand to be lighter.

mine was around 15 lbs. I am sure if a better pilot was flying her you guys would really see that this plane with DA 50 is not really a bad combo at all (I started flying gassers 2 months ago or so, and my very first RC flight was a bit over 5 months ago) but I have to admit that with the DA50 she is a bit on the heavy side for its size tho.

I have this plane with a fuji 50 and it flys awsome. I will be putting the da in it now just because the fuji is a pain in the ass to start, oh and it is a brick! I did have it in my gp christen eagle before I sold it and it would hover it at 23 pounds. But as I said it's a brick and the da is not.

i used to have one with a first place engine 52 cc all servos in the rear an came out 14.9 without gas an have a 16 onz. fuel tank , have no problen with the cg an in the air it feels very light ..
be carefull with the landing gear the wood is a little soft an if a wheel is stuck by grass or a little rock it may brake , thats what happenned to mei was landing an one wheel hit a hole and it broke the wood on the landing gear base. but if you reinforce that area you may have no problem with the plane its a blast to fly!!!!!!!!! |

umm that's weird, I think you were on the lean side, and the engine just overheated.

To all you fuji haters, I am hear to say that I own a fuji 50, and for the price, it is amazing. Has anyone looked at the numbers. How do they get the impression that a DA 50 is more powerful. I tach my motor and get the same numbers as a DA. So number do not lie. DA only has an advantage of being light
