Default Carden Yak or Extra 260

Hey guys and gals,
I'm going to get either a Carden Yak or Extra 260. What are some of the pros and cons of each?

I think you'll find that they are both really good. Haven't flown the Yak yet but the 260 is really, really nice. I have seen the Yak fly and it looks the same. Rolls very, very well. 260 rudder is freakishly strong- I don't know why.

Buy the one you think looks better.

In my opinion, I would go with the 260 because it dosen't have all that fuselage area up-front. So it mat cut through wind a little bit bettter than the yak. Just my 2 cents.

I have not flown the 260, but have a bunch of time on the Yak. Gotta agree about the rolling with dmichael, best rolling plane I've ever flown. Heard nothing but good things about the 260. From what I'm hearing, it's easier to keep the 260 super light. If you're flying at altitude, that might be something to consider.

Believe it or not, the round front end is pretty darn efficient! Penetrates extremely well! The latest unlimited racer designed by Fred Frech has a round cowl. It's a semi cleaned up T-6. A BUNCH faster than the super streamlined mustangs. Go figure?

Hi, having been lucky enough to fly both - though the Yak wasn't mine - I can say you'll be equally impressed with either. Some subtle differences: Yak rolls ever so slightly more axially, Yak has slower downlines. The Yak - from what I can tell from a few flights on a friends - is a slightly more neutral airplane, meaning that ultimately your trimmed final mixes will be a little less than with the 260 - but not by much. That said, I think both are outstanding - there're Cardens - so it really may come down to your personal preference from an asthetics standpoint. If you're a die hard precision freak, there are some slight advantages to the Yak. Good luck, you'll love which ever one you end up with.

They are both awesome airplanes and it really comes down to what you like. I own the 260 and have a lot of time on my buddies Yak and in my opinion the 260 snaps a little better but the yak wins on the roller department. Pick what you like.
