Mike, really appreciate you taking the time. I like the aileron connector deal and will do that. same for the bearings. sounds like you have the answer for the coupling issue. your discription seems adequate for component placement. I just needed to get a general idea. dont trouble yourself with the pics. thanks, Bill

Altough one could easily complete a knife edge with out the mix. My ignition battery is mounted at the bottom of the fuse just behind the landing gear former. Also my power expander is mounted low in the fuse. I mounted the plywood rudder tray lower than the instructions called for, although off hand I couldnt tell you what the measurement is. When I get home tonight I can send you thoses measurements as well as post some pics if you like.

I also used a multiplex 6pin male /female conector for the aielrons to fuse connection that I purchased from Desert Aircraft. It comes with a panel mount housing for the fuse. Then when I slide the wing onto the wing tube I simply plug in the aileron connector. really clean and neat setup....

I would also reccomend the bearing upgrades for your elev and rudder hinges...

Yep... what he said. there was a lot of elevator slop in mine, but the bearings cleared it right up. I found a 3mm carbon fiber tube on ebay, and bought the metal bearings from boca bearings. Lots of folks just used a nylon bushing from Mcmaster-Carr... either should work fine.

Start off with some VERY mild elevator settings and a lot of expo... you can always dial it back if you want. Mine had some pretty bad coupling issues, but a lot of mixing got it under control. All in all, it was a pretty good plane, but almost impossible to sell, once I got tired of it. I had maybe 100 flights on it, no crashes, wound up having to part it out, and got only $600 for a spotless fuse. I know that BVM dropped the bottom out of the prices just to clear them out... that knocked mine way down from the $1300 that I paid.

I believe that Chief Aircraft is now carrying Xtreme Composite:

Yep... Planes Plus carried them for a few years, then BVM, now Chief... It's not a bad plane, but I don't know why it just doesn't seem to gain a foothold with the dealers. There are a few items that CompARF does for you (like the canopy hold-down bolts) and Xtreme does not do... but those alone shouldn't make or break a line of planes.

I got mine for $850 NIB from a guy that won it. so maybe a half inch up/ half inch down on the elev? I'm used to flying small 3-d stuff so I'm hoping this will feel like a big cream puff. just hope it tumples well

Probabley because its been around for awhile would explain the decreased popularity and dealers not holding on to them. ya know some guys gotta have the latest/greatest sometimes (me included).

I would say a half inch of up and down travel would be a good safe start... I was amazed at how much authority the elevators had. I never crashed it, but I had a few baloon landings that scared the crap of me. If you have it balanced right, it will really float for a while, then settle down just fine. This was my first 100cc plane, and I really had to work on making my final turn slower and closer in. The plane will fly very well at slow speeds.

I set up my ailerons to act as spoilerons for landing. Just set up the flaps to pop the ailerons up about 1/4" to kill some lift. Helps the plane settle down for landing.

I also have my low idle set really low for landing. Any additional revs and the plane just keeps on flying.

I had the same problem too in trying to land it, it just would not quit flying. Switched props to a vess 28a, the thing is like a huge speed brake, actually can carry some power now on final.

I have used spolierons in the past and it works very well. Put them on a slider. can drop it like a rock if you want to. my default model program has them configured so I will use it. Thanks for the tip. any more welcome.

Yes, I have KS cannisters. No tunnel at all, it works well anyway. The inside of the fuse get a little warm, but not hot, so I think the holes I've made is enough for cooling.

The cannisters themselves gets very hot of course but just 1cm or so around them the temp. is OK, and i have had no problem so far...

About the outer aileron servo, it's a bit tricky to get it in place and you have to make a tool for it, but when it's finnaly there it's rock solid and you will save weight if not opening up for a hatch.
