Magic, please make sure you get the largest prop that Mr Vess makes and it has to be an A because he has a big cranium and that calls for an A pitch

Gentlemen,
Ever hear of a helmet? While I do not have a warbird as of yet... If i did per-cure one, be assured that the a armored flight jacket, and full face motorcycle helmet would be worn at all times while flying my low and fast left handers... So propeller me all you want.. I will perform a few victory rolls as the blade breaks.

OK.... 8 flights with the 3W100 - OMG.. 100% different plane
MAN that old 3W 100 has some BALLS buddy... It was rippin a 26 - 10 like a rag doll. 4 vertical snaps and it was still climbing.. Was like flying a foamy... BUT.. on my last flight I had so much fun I ran out of gas, and had a dead stick... came in a little hot, but had a clean landing... but the gear plate came out. no damage at all.. just the gear plate. When looking at it... it had almost NO glue around it. So I'm going to make a new one and gorilla glue it in. BUT MAN that plane flys AWESOME with the proper motor! <------ happy guy!

NO... no metal plate.
Is there suspossed to be one? Thats a good question... man.. I'm going out to the garage later to check that out. But seriously.. the mono coat didn't even rip.. the whole plate just pulled out. I was almost stopped on the grass already when it happened, probably only at 10 mph so all that happened wa I got a 1/2" ding on a wing from one of the wheel pants, and the plate needs to be put back in.

Ok fixin the PANZIE.
As I said I really did not have a horrible dead stick landing... just a ran out of gas in a hover at 50 ', flip it over head for the runway.. kind of hot landing... Check out the first few shots.... the gear plate just came out... no other damage what so ever it just came off!! Also, to answer Dennis C, there is no angle alum, supports just a few hardwood angles glued in. SO... I'm going to put 2 angle pieces of aluminum in there and make a new 1/4" plywood gear plate and Gorilla glue that sucker in. Should be an easy fix, and a strong fix and when I'm done it will look as good as new!

Steve can you put that piece of aluminumn in there just like your 260 to wheere it bolts to the motor box rail.
P.S. i'm not that familar with the j-tec's so i dont know if it can be done. but it seems like a stronger set up to me.

While you were typing that Dennis, .. I think I was actually doing it!
i would have finished the whole thing tonight, but I don't have the right plywood to make a new gear plate. (no matter how much stuff you have laying around you always need more!! haha) The aluminum pieces went right in.. nice and tight... 4 holes, 8 washers, and 4 locking nuts. and when I make the new gear plate I'll bolt the gear on from the outside (stock location) and then the inside going through the aluminum angle braces. Should make it nice and tight.. at least able to survivea dead stick.. I mean if you crash you crash.. but a plane should be able to survive a fast landing. To its credit.. nothing else is even slightly damaged... She will be good to go before the weekend! WHOO HOOO back to enjoying my new motor!
