Dude... it fell out. It was supported by nothing.
I can't believe it was made like that, the rest of the plane is sooooo solid!

The fix came out great, and that SUMO glue by loctite is INSANE!!

Flew her this past weekend, and all wa well with the gear... not an issue at all!

The gear is also really easy to pin since it is butted up against F1. Pinning through F1 into the gear plate will prevent it from folding aft. I put 13 1/8" oak dowl pins in... it has been very solid, even when it departed the surface once (Newman!).

i actually added 2 pieces of angle aluminum through the gear/plate and into the F1 formers...
That gear is going NO WHERE.. not to mention the use of that glue... if the gear is off the plane again... thats not going to be my main concern... I'm afraid I'll have worse breakage to deal with!

HI
I have a Panzl that I tore the gear out, I epoxied it back in with ground up fiberglass mixed with the epoxy.
It is so strong I had a wheel fall off and landed on grass and the gear did not come off.

Sleepy, the issue isn't stronger gear, it's setting the timer!

Yes you are correct sir. But honestly I'm glad the gear popped out...
the way they are in there origionally they are bound to loosen up with out the additional support. and on a normal landing carrying a bit of speed that could be BAD.

I hope no one takes this as a slam on the PANZL... to date its my favorite plane I own... if I kill this one... I will get another... I love the look and the flight ability!

But I would suggest supporting the landing gear with a little angle aluminum.
Do that and your golden!

FLARE!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why we designed a large elevator!!!!!!!! LOL

The gear is supported by the front former, the two points on the engine box and the fuse sides. I will agree a couple of pieces of tristock on the engine box would add extra glueing surface and strength and even the aluminum angle which will will consider.

As always we are trying to watch the weight

AL... no disrespect meant!

As I said earlier... I LOVE the PANZL... I would tell any single person in the market that this is one of the best flying 35% panes i have ever flown! And the construction of the plane is practically not an ARF.. it looks like it was actually built by a pro builder.

I think the addition of the two small pieces of angle stock would make the gear plate completely solid. I admit the reason the gear plate came out, was do to an imperfect landing, and was straight up pilot error (no timer... ran out of gas), but with the angle stock in place the gear plate wouldn't even have been stressed at all.

Sorry if anyone took this as a dog against the PANZl.. because its not... I LOVE the plane,
in fact you would be hard pressed to find a better performing and better priced 35% plane anywhere.

As I said before... If I ever dork this one... another will be ordered ASAP!

(And I'm still considering the PAk.. So i can go nutz with some monocoat)
