Dunno, I only measure it before the first flight and then adjust from there. First flight it was exactly where the book said to start. I've since added 1.5 ounces of lead, and probably need another 1.5 to get it where I need it. Right now there's very little wing rock in the harrier, and it pulls a little when inverted.

Both would work fine. Just keep it light!

I have one and love it! One of the best ARFS I have ever put together. I highly recomend the plane.

Mine is a little different in that it is E-powered rather than gas

I used a Neu motors 1515 2Y geared 6.7/1 on 12S1P 5000 packs at a little over 3100 watts peak. Turns a 22x12 Mejzlick prop at a tad over 6400 rpm.

I posted some pics and a couple of videos here... including one where I put it into a tree.

http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=7354

I have to agree with the comments that it looks better in person and has a real impact in the air. Its a crowd pleaser.

I forgot - Im useing 4ea JR 9411 on ailerons, 2ea Futaba 3050 on elevator and a Hytec 5645MG in the rudder. All running on a Fromco reg at 6 volts with a 2S 1320 lipo Rx pack.

I've been logging rx pack amp usage and I have yet to use over 100 mahr out of the pack in any single flight. I was expecting a LOT more draw with that many digital servos on this size plane. Mine weighs just under 15 pounds and I average 7-8 minute flights.

I ran an EagleTree logger on the last flight and the highest amp peak I saw was 2 amps. I only recorded 3 minutes of that flight because I set the recorder incorectly, so there may have been higher amp peaks that I missed. I doubt it tho. Average amp draw is well under 1 amp.

I have been flying mine for about 2 months now and have maybe 12 flights on it. I like it a lot, but it has a few issues. Id like to compare notes with those of you that have one flying...

Mine has some roll coupling and pitchs to the belly in KE. Not too bad, but it took between 7% to 10% mixes to get it hands off.

Uprite harrier has some wing rock unless I get it at just the perfect angle of attack.

Elevators are close perfect with almost no rock. Its easy to hover but wants to torque pretty strongly.

Inverted harrier had a LOT of wing rock and wants to drop the right wing badly when stalled. I checked and found that my elevator travel was NOT equal - especially on the down side. I have fixed that, but have not flown since.

Inverted level flight takes a touch of down stick, but is hands off on roll trim.

Roll rate is blinding fast. Rudder and elevator are much less dramaticly effective, but still very good.

It needs more right thrust than the built in amount on the firewall. I added some, but it needs a tad more as it still pulls to the left in verticle climbs.

Yup, all of that sounds about right. Mine doesn't wing rock very badly in harriers, upright or inverted, but your mix values are probably where mine will end up. I started with 5% on the second flight and have been working up a percent at a time, and it's close now. By memory, I'm around 7% now.

I think your elevator on inverted will go away with the CG back more, I'm stillworkign mine back, but I've yet to fly an Ultimate that you couldn't get the CG to a point where it was perfectly neutral upright and inverted without any bad tendencies.

Same experience with the ailerons, they are ridiculous. I've got the expo up at 65% on them, and they are still too touchy, I"m probably going to have to go up. I don't want to just turn down the throws, because like you mentioned, you need a lot to counteract the torque. Mine are set just below the book 3d settings, and I have enough throw that I can counteract the torque and make it roll in either direction in a hover.

I haven't found the wing dropping agressively when stalled in any attitude, I'm betting it's your elevators like you said.

And as an aside, the wing rock is there for me in harriers as well, and when I let my friend fly it, there was none, upright or inverted in harriers. I guess I just need to be a better pilot, becasue he was able to fly the ailerons and keep it still. need more practice, I suppose.

It keeps getting better with every flight. I dialed in a little more right thrust, and keep moving the CG
back. It sits nice and stable in a harrier now, and even hovers better. I have 1000 times the confidence in this plane than I had in my QQ Yak, I never got it lower than 20 feet or so in any maneuver, and had a hard time turning it towards myself in the harrier. Today I was driving the Ulti around 10 feet up. I was having too much fun, I forgot to work on my mixes.

Next time you get a chance, check where your CG is for me ?
I am curious as to how far back yours is compared to mine.

Thanks,
Jim

Mines still not as far back as I want it. It's a little more than 1/4" behind the reccomended starting point. It's close, but a little farther will help with inverted.

Mine is flying MUCH better now.

Someone remended me to check if my elevator halves were moving equally - and they were NOT! I had forgotten to check after changing servos.

After adjusting the halves for almost equal throws (they are still not quite the same at all points up and down) the inverted problems are almost all gone. There is no longer a strong tendancy to drop the right wing. Inverted AND uprite harriers are much improved. Its a whole new machine

CG wise I need to re-check mine after going up to 12S packs, but I was about 1/4" or so behind the recomended spot and it still needs to go back more. There is absolutely no pitch sensitivity and it takes some down stick to hold inverted.

The basics do matter

That's good to know about how well these things fly, I'm going to pick on up from a guy this weekend. Can't wait.

Hello. I just bought an Ultimate 1.60 from Grate Planes. I don't know what gas engine is good for 3D flying?
A 40cc size engine will pull out from a hover ?
