Mine should be done this weekend. I just need to strap the batteries in, seal the hinge gaps, and do the elevator and rudder linkages. Mine has the DA-50, stock muffler, dual 1100mah nimhs for rx, an 1100 for the ignition, an aileron mod I did to remove two of the servos, and no unnecessary equipment. I assembled it and threw all the other stuff I needed on the plane as well. Looking at 14-1/4 to 14-1/2 pounds AUW. Should float real nice and vertical will not be any sort of problem whatsoever!

How about Evolution/Mvvs 45GX2 ? It has only 45.53 oz (1290 grams) and 5.2 hp. The DA 50 has 2.94 lbs (1330 g) and has 5.0 hp....
Looks good on the paper ... Anyone has this configuration (Gp Ultimate + Evolution/Mvvs 45GX2 ) ? |

There is another thread about the GP Cap 232 that I just read. The guy has an Evolution 45 in his Cap, turning a 21X8 at 6650 RPM's after 30 minutes of fuel. I just mounted my DA and ran it and got 7200 RPM's with a 22X8 prop, and this after only about 3 minutes. IMO, the EVO won't outperform the DA.

Ok,
I have decided ... DA it is. I have searched the internet and I need some guidance . What muffler work best with this combination (DA 50 and GP Ultimate) . At my flying field we have 2 DA with wrap around pitts muffler (ZDZ... something... bleah) and both engine works like crap. After they change with standard canister from DA the engine works fine, but the canister it dosen't fit the ultimate and i'm not a good builder... Will work with slimline muffler from DA ? I'm from romania and it takes a long time to get engine parts and other accesories. For that reason I have to take the best decision... After that another 2-3 months for 1 muffler ... and the transport it has the same price with the muffler... 150 muffler ... 150 the transport...whatever.. |

I used a Bisson wraparound on my DA50 in the Ultimate, and it worked great. You may also want to try the stock DA muffler, I hear it makes more power than the Pitts, it's less money, and you have to cut out the bottom of the cowl anyway.

I built one of these planes this year and it never left the ground before a friend of mine wanted it. I used a 3W55 in it and it is insane !!!!! The guy is a great 3D pilot and my flying skills are very limited to just fly'n around, this is one great plane and I plan to build another one this winter after finishing up my AM Yak, I have a Brison 3.2 with only about 20 flighs on it and I think it will be a great match for the Ultimate.

Hey there,
I'm seriously considering buying one of these and I was wondering if theres room for a canister install? Motor will be a DA50. It would be nice to keep it as quiet as possible since noise is becoming more of an issue at my field. If not, anyone have any ideas in regards to a decently quiet set-up? Thanks |

It could be done but would require some major rework and would add a significant amount of weight. Mine was built as light as possible, with the exception of going with non-redundant lipos over my dual 1100nimh's (+ one for the ignition - about a pound in batteries and switches), I have kept the weight to a bare minimum, including a stock muffler, CF spinner, lighter CF PT models prop, and my dual aileron servo mod instead of running 4 servos in the wing (pics on page 1). My AUW is 14lbs, 9.0 ounces - the scale doesn't lie...

Before anyone says anything about how the receiver is mounted, it was done at a flying field to get it out of the way and I didn't have my velcro and straps with me. I will be changed before the maiden.

Where did everyone set the incidence of the wings at, and did you make any changes?

I never measured the incidence, built it like the instructions said, and it all worked.

Thanks. Thats what I figured. I'm still going to order it and I'll just make sure to run a quiet prop and manage the throttle. With a Slimline muffler and a carbon prop it shouldn't too loud. Any thoughts?
Hey, is that a GTO in the background? Looks nice. |

My friend is running the DA and slimline on his ulty, running a Vess 22A for break in and it is pretty darn quiet, when broken in a 23A will be even better I think.

Cool...thanks. The plane is on its way so I'll just have to make it as quiet as possible with what fits. |
