Ok..I guess I'll just jump right in.
I'm a junior in a technical highschool. I major in robotics, and for my senior project I have decided to attempt to build an RC helicopter (Electric). I will say that I have no background in any type of flying at all, although I have built/played with RC cars a little bit (gas powered). I've been down to the closest hobby shop and I was told that it might run me around 700 bucks to build my own..as in, no kits. I cannot use a kit..so please don't recommend one. My questions as of now are mainly this.. How fast do I need the main blade to spin - How much power does the motor need to have How much power am I going to need battery wise. Ive seen Li-poly batteries from 400mAh to 8000mAh...Which one would suffice. Gyroscope. Is piezo gyroscope the best way to go, and how would i wire that correctly so that it would send correct signals to the tail blade, or where can i get info on that. As for now I think thats it. I'm not looking for a great helicopter at the moment, but I do need one that can fly...and possibly as cheap as I can get it. and my last question, which way should I go with servos. I've seen some really lightweight ones, but are they even powerful enough? How much weight am I looking at for the entire heli (obviously going to affect the speed of the motor i know) anyway, thanks to anyone who has even a little bit of knowledge to throw my way -Travis |
