Default Make Your Own Smoke Oil?

Hey guys,
Just wondering if there was any way to make your own smoke oil? I thought someone mentioned it somewhere on here or heard at the field or somewhere . . .
Lemme know!

Get a hole in your engine block, and then you'll make lots of smoke oil!!!

you can use canopus 13 , concrete form release oil and thin w/ kerosene if it's too thick. it doesn't burn as white as super dri & imo isn't as good but was cheaper to make

Baby oil mixed with kerosene works very well. I have seen a few guys use this mix and it makes very white fluffy smoke.

where do you get large quantities of the baby oil i just can find quart size or smaller bottles at walmart or similar stores . I think the formula used is 70% baby oil , 30% kero or diesel. ???

Ditto: We used this same recipe for a long while. For "home brew" it works about the best. I think the release oil we were getting locally was called Corvis oil. I'm sure its the same type of stuff xtreem3d is talking about. We used it at around a 50/50 mix. When done flying with this stuff concrete will not stick to your plane as an added bonus.. Walt

If I remember correctly I had buddy of mine used the oil that you fill the tiki torches with. I will have to double check.

If you want cheap and easy, straight up diesel works ok. The smoke is more of a light grey so it's not is pretty as Super Dri. For homebrewing, it doesn't get any easier than diesel, though. I've heard adding ATF to it will whiten it up and make it hang longer. Form release oil makes a horrific mess and is more of of a grey smoke as well.

I have tried 99% paraffin oil and it works pretty good. I have also tried the concrete release oils and diesel and kerosene mixes. I found the paraffin oil works the best out of them all.

If you plan on using smoke when you are hovering down low try avoid diesel because the fumes are not good for you, very toxic.

Thanks guys for all of the replies! What would be a good smoke pump to use? I was trying to put a new one we had in a plane this weekend and the pump kept locking up and was very inconsistent when it did work. It was a sullivan skywriter - any other good choices?
