Ive heard great stuff about the skywriter.
I'm using the 3W strawberry smoke fluid at the moment. Its expensive, but Its really good, and it makes the whole plane smell great! It leaves hardly any mess on the plane too. |

I tried a transmission fluid/ diesel mix right before my plane went down. It produced really good smoke with the pump turned up to 90% but I was puking more than I was burning. I turned the pump down to 35% and it didn't produce as much smoke but it wasn't covering my tail with red tranny fluid. I was using that mix at the 35% pump rate in this video below. As you can see it didn't produce a great trail of smoke. The super dri worked really well for me... it's just so expensive.
http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/...o=9027&cat=504 The next flight after this one I had turned the pump up to 45% but didn't get a chance to try the smoke before the plane crashed. |

You guys might want to rethink using concrete form oil in your smoke oil. On another RC site there was a discussion of the very same subject, and one of the posters copy/pasted a white sheet report from a manufacturer of the concrete forming oil. Seems that it is pretty toxic, and contains several different carcinogens. I wish I could find the post, but when the manufacturer states that it is harmful to human beings, I would think that most people would want to stay away from it. I have no ulterior motive for posting this. I'm just trying to look out for my fellow modelers.

Just go to the LHS and grab a gallon of Super-Dri. It's $14 bucks and you're all set.

One day I needed smoke oil and fast.I went to Wal Mart and bought a few large bottles of baby oil and 1/4 gal.of diesel to cut it down with slightly. The pictures below show the result.
I will say that after burning through a gallon of the stuff I did go home smelling like baby oil.So yes the fragrance does come out in the smoke.

You "REALLY" want to make your own smoke oil.....well.....you don't have to "make" it...just find out what oil that some 1980's Dodge Caravan owners use...I see these a smokin' up the highway all the time....
