I was on my 4th flight of the day 13th flight total and I was making a pass in front when my QQ Yak turned, went inverted on its own and crashed. I immediatley turned around and looked at the only person on my channel (38). He accidently turned on his radio which sent me into the ground. He did admit that he turned his radio on and he was really upset at himself. Unfortunatley for him he crashed a $4000 airplane. Unfortunatley for me he cannot afford to replace it and neither can I. He did call me and agree to pay me $300.00 a month. It was totally an accident but an accident that probably will stick with me for a long time. Impound your radios when your frequency is being used. I did get a video of the 3rd flight today when I was trying out a transmission and diesel fuel mix for my smoke oil. So I do have something to remember it by but not what I would have choosen. Here is a link to that video of the flight right before this happened. Also below are some after crash photos. I think I am done for quite some time now.

I would put it in writing and sent him a reciept after each 300.00 paid. That way you are covered for you total loss and he and you are on the same page as far as what is left to be paid. Aslo see if he could replace the airfram on a credit card and equipment for you that way you do not wait 13 months for your plane that he crashed for you.

If he has home owners insurance, that might cover it. I remember reading that someone was able to recoup their plane after someone shot them down, so might be worth asking. That sucks! Giant scale spread spectrum cannot get here fast enough.

So far it looks like I have 4 stripped 5945 servos, one totally gone 5925
(throttle), it disenigrated. Some of my servo extensions look iffy. I guess I'm not sure if I should try them again or just toss them. I don't won't faulty stuff to bring down the next one. The spinner appears to have taken all the blow on the engine (I hope) but the ignition is ruined. How do I send this back to DA, I guess I'm asking how do I file a claim to send it in for repair? All my 5955's on the rudder and tail surfaces seem to move freely (no binding). One of my regulators is history (ignition one). What about my TBM Li-ion packs? Should I check them with the 8-Ball and if they ready ok, trust them or should I send them back to TBM to be checked? Thanks, I never had this happen with a gasser before so I am at a loss as to what to do. |

You can just send the motor back to DA with a note of what happened and a contact number, etc. I would send the batteries to TBM to be checked out, as well as send in all the servos just to be sure. I know thats ultraconservative, but would be a shame to see another one go in because you missed something defective.
