Default TAS Visit Possibilities.

Group:

I'm looking at some vacation time the end of October and will be doing some full scale sailplane hours near Maricopa, Arizona the same time as the 'Shootout' will be going on.

Can any one familiar with the area tell me if this is close enough to Tucson for maybe a couple days at the 'Shootout'? Are they friendly to casual visitors at the flying field?

I'm too much of a newbie to that area, and I'm not familiar with this type of competition to know the answers. Any help would be appreciated..

Doc, the site is 100% spectator friendly, and it's about 35 minutes out of Tucson. If you're in the tucson area, make it a day trip. Friday-Sat are the best days.

Docvan,

You will be plenty close enough to head down to Tucson from Maircopa. It might take about 1:30 for you to get down there give or take 10-15 depending on traffice on I10.

You might even squeeze in a trip to the Pima Air and Space Museum! Very cool!

Thanks all! I've got to learn how to use the mapping sites. It is an easy drive!

I'll have to try and make the Pima museum another time.
