Hey guys what prop would be good on a 80 inch profile that i have using ys 160 dz. I have tried numerous but need one that turns around 8000 to 9000 rpms static. Was thinking of trying some apc wide blades but i really cant find or know which wide blade would work well for the 160 dz.

Thanks for the info i was thinking apc 18/8 wide to i use 18/6 wide on the 140 and that works well. Have you had any experience with the 160 DZ it has some power for sure but really vibrates on idle on the profile. Needs to be mounted to a more solid firewall than a profile but it flies it so well and hovers at 30% throttle i hate to change back to the 140

I have not had the 160 myself, I helped a local guy with one on a 2m funtana, sweet engine. Not sure about the vibration problem, the only thing I can think of is to use a heavy prop to help dampen out the vibes. They really need a soft mount, but not an option on your profile. You might be able to mount some dampeners or such below the motor, not sure though. What fuel are you running?

He has used the APC 18x8W and 18x10W, both seem to work pretty well.

Most folks use the 160 for pattern, havent heard of too many using them for 3D, etc. I think I even read somewhere that someone used a 20x6 on it.

I talked to Vaugh at Central Hobbies he said for my attitude of nearly sea level to use a apc 19/8 wide , so i ordered one . He said you want the rpms in the 8000 to 8900 range on the ground.

Well so far i have spent around 50 bucks for props that dont work the 19/8 wide apc was to heavy also for the motor only tacking around 7600 rpms. I found out apc make a 18/8 wide blade that would be good for the 160. My pocket book will just have to wait for a while . This has really been a frustrating experience. I am beginning to think that the comment about the 160 not being good for a profile is correct . I think i might put my 140 sport back on the profile would be the smart thing to do and put my 160 dz on my hangar nine extra 260 27% where i would have a more solid firewall and airframe to mount it to. This thing is a shaker .
