Help! Batt. info for 50cc size plane

ok maybe some of you more experienced pilots can help me solve a battery debate i had at the field today. in a 50cc size plane (30%er), can you use reg nmhdr batteries? say a 2300 on ign. and say 4500 flat pack (new jr flat pack) for recv.? or, 6.0v sys. which is what i would choose. any feed back would help me alot.

thanks guys,
phil

yes you can run that setup and it will work just fine.i run two 2700 mil nicads on my radio with two switchs and one 1700 on ignition.i run the nicads only for the faster current release of them over nimha'a.but i needed the nose weight with a 3w 50 up front on a 30% yak

You really dont need a 2300 on the igniton..I have a 1400 NIMH on mine and can easily fly 10-12 13min flights..I have dual 6v 1400's on the rx and can get at least 7 13min flights..

On both of my 50cc planes I have a 1200 NIMH 4/5 A for ignition. Then for the receiver I have a 2700 NIMH 4/5 A
For my 33%er I have a 1200NIHM 4/5A for ignition. Then a 2100 NIHM AA on the receiver.

to answer your question on how it flies.i have to say garrett and sammy have one of the best arf's i have ever seen or flown.it will imac with best of them after you learn it's own way of flying and the landings were hard at first couse i am not used to landing that sloooooow.it will float forever with just a little too much throttle.i pill to an idle on base and maybe one little bumb on final and that is all the power it needs

lol..... its ok. i cant wait to get her in the air!! this may sound like a dumb question, but, if i were to go with 2 2000mah 6.0v packs for the recv., how do you wire it in, and what type of switches do i need to get??

I use an 1950 FAUP on my rx and an 1100 2/3A on my ignition. I can fly all day (12 9-minute flights). The low impedance NiMh packs are the best out there IMO.
