Sleepy,
Is it dead yet??? I'm hoping to get some flight info before it meets it's maker. Just wondering and Short bus you have to us kicker or it will never set up. Mosture is what sets off C/A. foam doesnt carry any. Balsa does thats why if you use foam safe on balsa it sets up fairly quick. BB |

I have recently built a flat foam plane modelled after the EDGE 540. Wingspan is 1 yard, I say it this way because I used a carbon fiber tube on the leading edge and the tube is 1 yard long, therefore.....
The airplane is made out of blue fanfold. I cut all the parts out by hand. It is designed such that the horizontal piece slides into the vertical piece and then the wing slides in under the horizontal piece. Another carbon strip was used pretty much right on the CoG and another in the elevators. Once assembled, I painted it (just on top) and then installed the gear. Used pull pull on the rudder and elevators. Installed the control horns directly into the foam (no additional bracing). I used Hitec 65HB servos (1 for rudder, 1 for elev and 1 for ailerons), Berg RX, TP 1320 lithium bat and HACKER 20-20L motor with Hacker speed controller.....All up weight is 14.5 oz and she flies terrific for a little foamy The foam, when you consider that you can build at least 20 of these from the bundle of foam that you get, only cost about $1.75 and no more than $20 for everything else to "FRAME IT UP" ....balsa tri stock, light ply for motor mount, carbon parts and horns...base price for the "KIT" $21.75 or less. Now I am not trying to take away from what you are saying about this bird that you have here, I am just saying that if I crash and destroy the foam, it will only cost me $1.75 plus the cost of 2 new pieces of balsa tri stock (nice thing is you typically will be able to re-use the carbon parts) to have another one just like it.

If you look at the side view, you can see the tri stock on top goes all the way back to the stabs only with a break at the aileron servo. There are also two pieces of tri stock on the under side that only go back to the LE of the wing. ALL 4 PIECES fit into a 4 holes in the motor mount to tie it all together. This thing is very rigid for a foamy.

Oh yeah...just wanted to note also that I counter balanced the ailerons due to the fact that the aileron control horns are at the very root of the ailerons.....works great.

Captain 232,
This is a build thread and review on The Godfrey Foam Extra 300. I recommend that you start your own thread on your plane. As for the cost there are alot of other factors that determin the price of the product you are selling. Please stick to the topic or start a new thread. Thanks |

BAAAA BAAAMMM...
Flew this puppy today... not prime conditions for a foamy (10 - 15 mph gusts) but I said screw it.. lets go. First off.. the eflight 450 is a great match for this plane... Ballistic power for this air frame. And my motor mount worked flawlessly. The plane has a much bigger feel to it, and yet is very very light on the wing. I liked everything about the plane except one little thing... with the wind and the torque of the motor I was getting some pretty good flex from the back of the fuse. I may slap a few carbon fiber rod back there to try and strengthen this area. EVEN I (YEA ME!!) was able to TR this puppy on the deck... and KE right to the grass... (my photo retarded buddies did the best they could... so excuse the pictures.. Jeremiah moved, so I have no good photographers available anymore!) Anyways... would I buy one ... YES... (in fact I have to... on the 5th pack I was being taunted and killed my beloved plane... note to self... do not head the "lower, lower, lower chants.. some CA and it may fly again!)
