I picked up a Carden Cap 35% used from a guy. After talking to Dennis from Carden, on the phone a few times about the setup, I finally met him at the Tucson Areobatic Championship 2007.. What a Great Guy. I still had a few questions about the setup, He was terrific, He didn't care if I bought it from him originally or not. He even gave ME a hat!!! Holly Crap, Theat wasn't expected.. He just wants to see the Carden aircraft flying.. I can't say enough good stuff about this Guy or his Company!!

I agree about Dennis and Carden, I picked up an untouched original 35% Extra 300S kit a couple of weeks ago. He sold me a set of plans for a very reasonable price, talked to me about the plane and offered to be available for any help I need during the build. This is for a 10 year old kit ! He also stocks replacement cowls, canopies and landing gear for anything he has sold. I see why people are so dedicated to Carden

40-42 lbs?? on a 40% carden cap..........Hun thats way heavy by 4 lbs, and a carden cap 35% should run out weight Wet around 28 total.
But from the photos looks like a good job to me just ?? the weight |

40lbs +/1 a lb or so is right in line with what I would expect with no lightening mods. I have a pro-built 40% Carden Cap (Tony Russo - Dalton Aviation) that weighs 41lbs dry - standard mufflers, li ions, etc.. so nothing heavy. It's built completely 'stock' with no lightening holes, etc.. It would lose a lb or so if I removed the smoke system, but built 100% per planes, I don't see it being much lighter.. I know Carden recently started using lighter foam (mine is about 3 or so years old, so I would assume it's the heavier/denser foam) but I don't know how much of a weight difference it really makes. |

Thing is that a 40 -44 pound Carden flys good. But once you fly a 34 1/2 pound Carden you will know what you have been missing.
