Default New Release: DX18QQ Quique Special Edition

I get many press releases about new products, but this one really made me smile. Spektrum is now offering a Special Edition DX18. The DX18QQ. Why is this such a big deal? Because if there was one RC pilot that deserved a special Edition radio it would be Quique Somenzini!! Since I was first introduced to giant-scale airplanes, there was one name that stood out as being the best. That name is Quique Somenzini. Even beyond his amazing talent with the sticks, QQ was a perfect ambassador for the hobby. Humble, gracious and exuberant, Quique embodies everything a successful RC pilot should be. I remember the first time QuiQue said hi to me and used my name, I felt like I personally knew the pope or something. I was on cloud nine!

So, in an effort to honor the legacy of Quique, Spectrum has just released the DX18QQ Quique Special Edition w/AR12120, X-Plus 8.

I haven't been in the market for a new radio, but man, I may have to see about one of these!

Horizon says:
From pioneering the sport of 3D aerobatics to shaping the future of RC aircraft design, Quique Somenzini is one of the most influential forces in the world of model aviation. This stunning DX18QQ Limited Edition transmitter, of which only 2,000 have been made, is one more testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence.

In addition to the unparalleled capabilities all DX18 transmitters possess, the DX18QQ comes equipped with exclusive software features and ergonomics shaped by Quique’s decades of RC experience and know-how.

Included DX18QQ Limited Edition accessories:
– AR12120 12-channel DSMX® PowerSafe™ receiver
– XP8000 X-Plus™ 8-channel expansion module
– 2S 2600mAh Li-Po transmitter battery
– Certificate of Authenticity personally signed by Quique
– DX18QQ Sol de Mayo transmitter case
– DX18QQ microfiber display screen cloth
– Orange-anodized Spektrum™ flashlight
– DX18QQ Special Edition DVD
– Engraved DX18QQ dog tag
– Optional 34mm orange-anodized stick ends
– DX18QQ decal sheet
– DX18QQ neckstrap
– DX18QQ SD card
– DX18QQ hat

Nice marketing move. I guess.

So what differences does the software have with a regular 18? I see the splash screen features a QQ signature so that's one thing...

To some people, having a QQ signature radio means a lot more than just what features it has. It's paying respect to a person that means a heck of a whole lot to a lot of people.
If you are just looking for new features I think you may have missed the point.

I think it also has some software enhancements that the standard one does not have.

Just called my LHS to see what my price would be... Very very interesting . Sounds like 1100 or so of the 2,000 for US/Can markets and rest for world wide dist.

I was going to order a standard DX-18 in December...I just placed my order for the QQ today.

Congratulations to QQ and Spektrum team for working together to bring even a better radio more tailored to the GS market.
Everyone seems to be really happy with DX18 and this looks even better. I absolutely love the black, the case and all the touches.

Congrats to all the new owners of any kind of DX18.

I would buy one, but i really love my 11X. If there was a QQ Sig. Series radio on the 11X, i would have it!!

Nice tribute to QQ, I must say!!
