Here's an update on our "missing" parts. I wrote Andreas at Composite-Arf to ask about the spinner diameter and also about the latest shipping date for the parts. Here is his reply:

We are sitting in the same boat… still waiting for delivery of the spinner backplates… this has developed into a never ever expected problem. I am sorry for the delay in completing your kit. To make the wait worth while, we have now even painted the red spiral on the white spinner, right in the molds.

The spinner has 120mm diameter, this equals approx 4 ¾ inch.

Shippping day for the backplates is now confirmed to Wednesday next week, and we should receive them about 3-4 days later. Sorry not to be able to give you better news.

Best regards,
Andreas

Looks like the best we can expect is for them to begin shipping on about November 22nd or 23rd if everything works out like he hopes.

Chris, Inflight pictures look Great!! and the build photos on your website are really helpful.
I havn't started building yet, but have a few questions. Is offset built into the firewall or did you adjust it using the spacers?
Were your hinges on the rudder sloppy once you slid the hinge pin in place? How did you retain the hinge pins? It seems like I'll have to do something in this area to make the holes in the phenolic smaller.

They are detachable and work very well. My range test arial down is 30 - 50 foot more when using one on these than with normal arial.

Propstriker the phenolic holes for the rudder was also a little sloopy on mine just put a drop of cyano in a let it dry and then re install the pin with a little work by turning it in and you will have a tight fit .

Note the rudder tray. I made it so it can slide up and down the tray very easily to change cog further back or forward.

Chris your build looks good but. i have a question lets say you had to move your tray back 2" to get the correct c/g. to me it looks like your cables are crossed. wont your exit holes in the rear be off cause you changed your distance.

Yes that would happen. I cut my slots longer for exactly this reason. About 1.5 inches each side of the cable exit.

I'm going to install the power box and the SWB tray like you have. How is your CG Inverted on a 45 and inverted level? Thanks for all the pictures. Whats the AUW?

AUW = 27.9 lb

FYI everyone, Make sure you check your wing tube fit into your wings. Mine were so tight I could barely get the wings off after installing them fully. I think the tube is sandwiched a bit tight towards the end in the wing. I tried installing it fully many tims and then rotating it tillmy arms could barely move. Eventualy what I did was use an exacto blade and scribe/cut 4 x 4 inch grooves at 90 dgerees apart at the end of the tube. I then installed the tube in the wing and rotated it. These grooves acted like a hole slotter and cut a very small amount of any of the tight areas away. I used this in both wings. When I was done in then used sandpaper on the wing tube to smooth the grooves again. The wings now slide on snugly and come off with a reasonable amount of pulling as apossed to worrying I might break them trying to get them off.

Also make sure you check that at the rear of the fuse the plywoof formers that the hinges for the rudder are connected to are epoxied to the composite fuse.I had very little milled fibre/ epoxy on one side and had to add a fair but using a long dowel.

As far as doing a proper cg check 45 degrees inverted, I have not done this yet.Next time I fly her I will and lt you know how it works out.

Best Regards
Chris

That should have been 27.8 not .9

Not sure what weights people were getting old 2.6m at buy, I have Dual 5955tg Rudder Servos, Dual 5955tg Aileron Servos, Smoke Tank and smoke tank plumbing,2 DA fuel dots, SWB Rudder Tray, Powerbox, Dual 2400 mah LIO batteries, and an 1800mah Mini Sub C NIMH ignition battery and MTW Cans.

I am sure if it was built as per manual of 2.6 with stock rudder setup. No smoke tank no powerbox etc... it would be a fair bit lighter.

I dont really know any better but a 100cc DA engine with MTW cans is not going to have trouble with anything under 30lb

Looks like instruction manual for 300sx is also now up on Comp Arf site.

Main difference is they reccomend you static balance elevator with up to 30g of lead. I did not do this so I guess I better. Also I now see what the LG cuffs are. My kit did not come with these.

Best Regards
Chris

I ordered a all White w/ Red bottom Comp ARF 300SX today from Andy Kane. He indicated that the plane will be here in Mid December. At first I was going to buy the 3.0m Extra260 but with me flying at IMAC events by myself I figured this the way to go not mention a huge costs savings.

I have had DA in the past but I am really leaning towards a BME 110 or 115. Since this will be my first BME I am concerned about which model to purchase. I am also concerned about the CG on the airframe. With the BME is it recommended to run stock exhaust, cannisters, or tuned pipes? Please BME owners please chime in!

FYI! Mr Kane said the 300sx is available in the Fantasy and Futaba Schemes.

PTS,, I have a two year old comp-arf 2.6 (pictured in my avatar). I had the 110 and now 115 in it. My plane weighed 22.5 lbs the first time I took it out.
Both RX batteries are on the inside motor dome and the ign battery is on the front of the rudder tray. There were no problems balancing with the BME's.
At that weight there is absolutely not need for anything more than stock diverters.

Whats the difference in the 110 vs. 115. I noticed that the BME website does not show the 115. When you mounted the BME 115 didi you run into any problems, and what standoff did you use?

Thanks,

Perry
