Any word on the missing spinner and tail wheel ? I will be might annoyed if they change their mind on these being standard as part of the kit.
Mine arrives Friday as well so I will report on if they are missing. Sure would ne nice to have the instruction manual for it. Best Regards Chris |

I was told by my Sales Rep that these items (spinner and tailwheel) will be delivered as promised. Aparently Comp-Arf is waiting on an order for the backing plates and LG components and the spinner and tailwheel will be shipped separately. I didn't ask about the LG cuffs, but since no one had mentioned them I assumed they were included in the original shipment.

Chief,
Make sure to reinforce that gear plate area. Use carbon and kevlar to keep it lite and strong. The gearplate area is very small to hold up to the daily wear an tear. Plus having a split gear like that, each gear section can act as a lever to rip the bottom of the fuse out. tony fandino |

here is what Comp-Arf have improved with the gear mount.
![]() ![]() Our massively strong carbon landing gear legsneed no introduction, & are also used on our Extra 300SX. However we have revised the milled wood landing gear mount that is factory-installed for, to make it even stronger. It now uses 9mm aircraft grade ply laminated with resin, and has additional stringers and ribs to spread the load of any less-than-perfect arrivals into the fuelage structure even better. Of course, all these parts are also available as spares if you should have a little accident ! Our massively strong carbon landing gear legs need no introduction, & are also used on our Extra 300SX. The gear mount design on these planes (I have a 2.3 and a 2.6...) has been a BAD desgn from the get go - but they persist in usiing it rather than do the necessary reengineering. We got rid of wing spars - what does it take for a new gear mount????

recently recieved a 2.6m 300sx Patty Wagstaff Extra.
I noticed one side of my landing gear is half the thickness of the other at the critical flex point. One is 13.32 mm and the other is 7.87. See attached picture 2. On one picture I traced around the edges of the actual gear and then wrote the measurements on them. You can see them clearly side by side in the 2nd picture. The other issue is the surface that faces the wood where you bolt it against is not very uniform at all. You can see this in the 4th pics. Its also very apparent on the pic where I traced around the edges. I also traced around the end of the gear and you can see these are different as well. one set is 9.2, 10.86 and other is 9.1 and 7.75. This means the angles are different and I might have 2 different angles on the gear when installed. I can allways sand these flat, but I am most worried about the one gear being so thin at the flex point. This might break on a landing. What do you guys think ? Will this gear be safe to use ? Best Regards Chris |

Both of mine carbon gears look like the thick one you have, i would contact your contact person to get a new set of landing gears, it is clearly to see that the one gear is not manufactured correct.
congratulation with ur new aircraft, cventer maby you are going to finnish your plane before me as i am low on the budget for the time being, so all the expensive stuff wont be home for some time. |

Those things are very rough! As someone in the composites industry,I would
not use the one with the thin area. |

Good grief man, that landing gear looks like a 5 year old laid it up. For a $1500 + plane I would be on the phone with someone!
