A guy at our field had a 35% Aerotech Yak and it weighed in at 36 lbs on an accurate digital scale so your guys weights on the 40% sound in line. It was bigger than most other 35% planes, but still was on the heavy side for a 100cc plane. Sounds like Aerotech may need some new scales!!! Craig

And you call yourself bad-ass...??? We want a flight report by the weekend. Just kidding, great job and very nice scheme. You don't have to worry about anyone asking if it's an ARF .Best of luck with your new plane. .......Mark |

Hello,
I have weights from customers not inhouse scales to mislead anyone. Our first one weighed 40.89 exactly. As many manufacturers have found everyone builds different, wood weights can vary even Carden, since I know folks that have many of the same planes similar setups and 3-5lbs weight differences. I wish we had a 100% method to say all the time it will be X but its not reality. Thats what is great about a kit. You have choices and many build threads show. We strive to answer to our customers needs, make changes when needed, update of product and keep the costs down to make it affordable. I like these forums since it gives us a chance to help answer most anything you guys need. I guess the one thing I can say about our Yak's is that they are fun to fly. So fly that sucker and let me know how you like it. Thanks John CBK I know Glen's plane and he just ordered another 35% Yak kit this week to try it again. I think his 42% Edge that is similar in size weighs 38.5lbs if Im not mistaken. Lets fly guys.. |

Thats why i fly my planes a couple times then tell my self if it fly's light or heavy, then i weigh it. If i weighed it and i was'nt happy w/ the weight then i went to fly it, i wouldnt like the plane because all i would think about would be the weight and how heavy it fly's, though it fly's light......

Mark feel free to come down and due the maiden. I will be at "work" looking out the window dreaming about tail tappin and flyin R planes. Guys don't get me wrong I am not complaining about the weight and it might not be correct. The laser cutting was great. This thing is HUGE. Very rarely do I weigh an airplane but that is always one of the first questions people ask so I thought I would come prepared. We will try again with the one that Walt built www.builtbywalt.com It is on the covering table now. John looking forward to one of the new yaks. Call me when the little guys are in.

Its easier to hide a plane if you have a bunch of them around..... "Yah Hunny, I got that a while back.....don't you remember??"

Chris,
If your model really is 46 lbs - I would really watch those 8611's on the Elevators like a hawk. Especially if ya do alot of 3D . Everything esle considered - the model looks great - Really like the scheme .Ronster |

Chris, one last question, what if any baffling are u using in the cowl?? Ive seen both ways no baff, and some baffle. I did the louvers deal, they are kinda big tho,3 on each side, so up in the air aboot the baffle. Any other guys flying this plane use baffles??

Here is a picture of my baffle so far. There will also be a top one but I ran out of can primer and want them to match. That is a huge hole for air to go into and with no baffles I would get worried about over heating.
