Fantastic !!! Looks Great !!!
Now we need some videos of it. P.S. I would use a 20 x 10 or 22 x 10 prop to break in the engine. |

Also, I added some baffles to my cowling, which reduced the head temp from 210 to 180. Bob R.

Nice Extra, and nice country to fly it in. California once had land like that, but now is almost gone forever. Congratulations on a successful afternoon!

yah that 24X8 is too much, its almost too much for a DA 50 that is fully broken in.
Stick to a 22X8 for break in. |

The H9 Extra and Evolution 45GX - also my first entry into gas. Have flown glow powered for over 30 years. I love not having to wipe off all the gooey mess, just a few small spots on the bottom.
After having my engine repaired under warranty (broken ring, long thread here about that) it seems to be running fine. Only about 1.5 gallons since the repair, though, the ring broke after about 4 gallons originally. I do think it has a little more power than it did before. Bob R.

I have the same plane with the same motor and servos. Im using a bolly 23x8. I have been using a Mejzlik 23x8. I liked the carbon prop but the bolly seems to wind up a bit faster. Its almost 4oz lighter than the carbon prop.
But that wood aint got S#$t on the looks of the carbon fiber one. Have you upgraded your landing gear? |

Torquemaster: yes, I like the powerbox sensor. It seems to be an save switch and I'm using 2 Lipos (2 cell) at 1200 mA.
Thank you Guys about your prop recomandations. I think I'm gonna put 22 x 8 on. Does it matter for breaking in the engine if my prop is to large (24 x 10)???

No, I did not upgread the landing gear. Do you think it needs an upgread??? hipollito If you are still building the plane, be carefull about the connections servo to ruder. If you are not doing something to the screws, they might fall out. Maybe you allready know. I'm gonna take some pictures tonight and post it tomorow. |

Tom, it has been well documtented that the LG on these is weak were it bends at the fuse with many delaminating on reasonable landings. TBM and graphtech are named as good replacements, hangar9 also do an alu upgrade.
Have you replaced the bolts in the control horns, mine don't actually come through the square nut so I'll be replacing with longer ones that I can use a locknut on. With a too big prop for break in, you make the engine work real hard at a time when it needs to be underworked while it gets lubricated, and the moving parts find their fit. Although I would think that in switzerland at this time of year the air is quite cold and humid so you may afford some extra power. HTH, Grant |
