Guy's I'm really excited about releasing this story. At eFest a few weeks back Nick White came up to me and showed me an Android application he was working on. If you do not know Mr. Nick White, Nick is responsible for the IMAC lite and IMAC pro applications for Android phones, is a very nice guy and obviously a very talented programmer! Nick's new application is called simply "Trim App". Trim App helps a pilot trim a new airplane (or any airplane for that matter) to fly straight and true. Using some of the tried and true methods developed by many of the best RC pilots ever, this app simplifies the process of recording your findings and makes the entire process less painless and convenient. Basically the days of taking a notebook and a friend to write down everything to the field is over!
There is a fairly robust application. It has the ability to store individual airplane reports and recall them at a push of a button! Trim App has you perform thirteen maneuvers to dial in your plane. So how does this Trim App work you ask? Quite simply Trim App is a data compiler with suggestions to help you make the next step in the trim process. Things that in the past you would need to look up, or cary around printout's of the many trim helper articles published all over the interwebz. Let's take a look at one of the steps Trim App offers. The Center Of Gravity test. Trim App asks you to fly in a cross wind and pull to a 45 deg up-line, and roll inverted. Trim App then asks "What does the plane do?" The next screen gives you a menu of answers. By choosing the answers that represents what your plane did the program will then tell you what you need to do to get the CG set right correctly. In the shown example the pilot checked "Nose falls quickly". Trim App then says "Add tail weight, C.G. is forward". This is just one of the thirteen tests the application can help you perform to get your plane properly dialed in. Trim App is not reinventing the wheel, the techniques used in the application have been used for years, but putting this in an app on an Android phone makes the process very convenient and easy to handle at the field! Official Description Trim App is an app designed to help you trim your RC model airplane. It guides you through a set of maneuvers to preform with your plane. After each maneuver it asks you a question on how the model reacted. You then select your answer from the list. Once you complete your desired number of maneuvers the app creates a "Trim Report" with suggestions on what trimming is needed. Features: - Save multiple reports for different models. - Email the reports for viewing later or printing. - 13 Different maneuvers to preform to really dial in your plane! - Helpful resources on the process of trimming. - Easy and simple to use! The app is available for $.99 in the Google Play shop located HERE. You can also download Nick's other apps IMAC Lite HERE IMAC Pro HERE Congrats Nick! Great idea, and I'm sure many pilots will find Trim App to be very useful. Now.. my only question.. when's it gonna be ready for us MAC nerds?

That is a fantastic use of technology!
I'm more interested in the IMAC apps! Can anyone point me to an instructional overview? I'm particularly interested in the caller feature! |

I just bought the Trim app and it looks well done. No more clipboards, paper and pencils needed for me to trim my planes.

My name is Charles and I'm a former Blackberry user.
Actually resisted giving up a physical keyboard and BB messenger for a looong time. I still hate touch screen keyboards!
