One good thing is that even though a lot of us won't bite yet on the 7 channel SS, a lot of the other guys at our fields will. The new flyers in particular will be starting off with SS so that takes a lot of the people off of 72 mhz. I don't have a frequency conflict very often as it is. It should happen even less as the average .40 size and electric guys all move to SS. Any way you look at it, this is good news as long as they are safe.

See, now you're just being picky!!

If "the Dark Side" made a 2.4ghz solution for a 12Z that would push me over the edge. I'd throw 15 years of JR away for that. I'll take that to get me to convert. JR has one foot in the grave, but they aren't dead yet.

I have no idea what's coming. I am too low on the food chain for that. But I will be shocked if JR and Futaba are not working away on this as we type!!

OK, I just want to know the answer to the following question:

IS THE DX-7 TRANSMITTER ANTENNA REMOVABLE OR NOT??????

Or is it the same antenna that is on the DX-6, that has a fragile plastic joint in it?

At least the DX-7 has a built in timer function. These are my only complaints against the DX-6.

Of course I'm glad the DX-7 comes with a larger capacity Tx batt too.

It does have a timer. That I know for sure. The antenna well... I don;t know the answer to that. Also the DX 7 is MUCH more efficient with using battery power. Spektrum says it will run for 6 hours on the battery!!!! That is great. Think of what a lithium would do. You would have to charge it like 4-5 times a year!!!

The antenna is not removeable. I did read that on the DX7 it can be folded to the side for storage/transport. So its a little better but still not as good as removeable.

I don't think its about frequency conflicts, its about getting shot down.....at least thats what my reasoning would be if I ever went SS....

let me clarify, I don't mind sharing a channel between flights....its when I'm flying I don't want to share a channel.....

There was a guy on here who said Spektrum is simply buying OEM parts from JR. Not that simple. My DX6 100% IS a JR 662 with a 2.4ghz built in modle in it. He said Spektrum could use any TX or make their own to produce units. If they tried to use anything other than JR, JR would leave them I promise you. Need we forget all the SERVOS JR has designed and sold. Ah, no. Horizon can't bite off and design, switches, servos, gyros and 100% of the TX so easily. Horizon needs JR as much as JR does Horizon. It is probally more of a 50/50 deal then you think. Only time will tell, but if/when JR has a SS system in their radios I promise you it will not be self designed. Each system I have ever seen is unique and won't work with a different brand. I doubt JR would sell OEM redios and software for them to a competitor. Who cuts their own thoat??? Horizon would have a conflict of interest then. Who wouldn't promote their own product over others???

All I know is I NEED 10+ channels with a lithium battery in the TX so it STAYS charged and I don;t have to charge the TX EVERY time I want to run to the field and it must be SS. I want JR programming and ease of use. Now, JR or Spektrum can decide who wants to sell me one more and make it!

Norman Ross Jr.
JR of course make the boxes spektrum puts there guts in it and horizon puts there name on the back. wait until 07 there will be a bigger radio from spektrum/JR/horizon. bieleve me I know a guy that flys for them and he has a 9 channel. the clock is tickin' the time is soon.

I just want to share something.

After the I E Hobby Expo in Chicago, and the DX-7 was released, our little LHS had a DX-7 pre-order list going.....even before the genral public was admitted to the show.!!!!!!!!

THe list grew to 13 people in 3 days. Now after everyone has either read all the internet mish-mash or just reconsidered on thier own.............

The list is down to 2. 1 for the owner, one for an E-copter guy. The LHS revised his initial order considerably.

From 13 to 2. Maybe he will sell one or two off the shelf.

I know it means nothing, but it is funny. IMO.

I just bought a used DX6 for 60bucks for the dome. I will skip a model, and wait.

I've seen the DX9 rumored elsewhere too. If its going to show up in Q1 of 2007 then I dont need a full range radio till after that. But I need a radio to fly IMAC next year and if no DX9 is available it will be a DX7. I would rather just spend for the good radio once and be done with it.
