40% YAK toc-xtreme
Can anyone post a picture of your rudder linkage installation for this monster? My intention is to use a Seiko PS-050 pull-pull, but need help deciding on what to do at the rudder end. Use a bolt with Nelson hardware, or what????
Just doesn't seem that a bolt glued through a balsa leading edge of the rudder would be strong enough given the size of the rudder. Jim Last edited by giantscalejim; 10-20-2006 at 09:15 AM. |

Jim, no picture to offer, but I would go with Nelson. It holds up to 5 servos ganged together with no problem. I think the rudder would pull apart before you have issues!

I've got the 37.5% AM Yak that I'll be glad to send some pics of.... I'm using a Seiko servo for the rudder. My rudder is actually plywood where the bolt would go through for the rudder linkage on the back. I'd feel safe using a Nelson type linkage--in fact I did, except I went with the Dubro linkage simply to get it out over the hinge line so I didn't have to offset the arm on the servo side.

I use the 10/32 Nelson/Rocket City Setup instead of the normal 8/32. Rudder is plenty strong for this application with that setup. I have bent bolts with a seiko, but never ripped the bolt out of the rudder.
