I agree with Sleepys first post here. 100cc. I'm an avid fan of 3W, but wouldn't mind seeing other options out there.

As far as airplanes??? A Christen Eagle!!!!! In the 100cc size!!!! That would be BADDASS!!!!!

I voted for the larger motor. We have enough opitions in all cats. If you really want to do something good. Come out with a plane to fit the Hacker 50xl. There are three of them where I fly. Quiet, clean, and We fly at a Park/fair ground..

I'm voting 50 is probably best bet mainly because the hobby $$ exponentially gets greater when you commit over that size. Over 50cc you most likely will have to use a trailer the beast too- most guys won't go there - especially with homeowners associations becoming more popular too (beats me why people want someone restricting them on the use their property).

Over 50 cc You have to start ganging up on those high dollar servos and matchboxes, dual receivers, double cylinders and muffler canisters and all- dat can get purdy durn expensive for a few mo inches - in yo' "hobby loven".

Not saying it isn't worth it - but I get the feel Rogers' Q is about potential VOLUME for future sales most importantly. The field I prefer to fly at, well you can count the > 50cc on one hand and pick both nostrils at the same time. Lots of leetle hot doggers round there, but we are trying to get em to move up in w.s.

although I'm going to all 40%, I would target the 75-80cc market size due to cost, set up and transport. There isn't much difference between 31%-33% than a 35% with a 100cc twin in it as far flight performance goes.

I agree, I'm getting almost 100cc performance out of my ZDZ super 80, and close to 2lbs. lighter. As far as cost, I've got about $400 more in my 80 set up, then my 50, and I transport the 80 the same way I do my 50..... and BIGGERS BETTER

I voted 150cc as thats what size I fly the best, but 50cc would be nice because my DA50 Extra is probably the plane I fly the most.

Hi from Greece./Crete
Today price and quality is the motive of flying big. 50cc was the most afordable start for a Giant model and the market share increased rapidly within the last 15-20 months.

100cc though is now showing sales increase due to the kit prices falling all around the world.
he above just conclusions of my sales through out the 2004-2006 on Giant RC in Greece.

Even though i voted bigger as i just received my 50% Edge (probably with an EVO 4c 300cc combo) and i love it!

Traveling around, making a lot of flyins and some contests I would say that the 100CC is the most popular on the average. IMAC contests seem to have more 40% 150CC planes but in every other instance its more and more 100CC. NOW, that being said with the new generation of 88-90" 50CC planes that are coming in at 17 pounds there will probably be a surge in popularity of the 50CC planes again. Bigger is better no doubt when you are talking about 3D and IMAC. But if I can build and fly a plane that will perform and present as well that is just a little bit smaller for 1/3 the cost, its a no brainer.

I voted bigger because I have been doing the 40% for a while now and would like to move up, will be getting a 50% Edge next week, from the results, the 100cc is the most popular as it is more practical cost and size wise.

Roger: maybe you could define your market! What are you looking to bring to the market? Higher quality/ better customer service? Cheaper engines??? Are your engines going to compete with DA/3W? DL?

I have heard a lot of people ask for a DL 85cc engine.

WELL WELL, I voted for the 150 size. However with the introduction of the DL100, we will soon see alot guys moving up from 50cc. MHO I,d like to see a 45% TT TOC 330L at 42lbs. I,d love to see a DL150 DL 90 single DL 180 Santa please bring me a DA 170! www.carolinaskydancers.com
