sounds fishy to me... maybe you should talk to hitec. If they say it's wrong then get your money back!

I'd buy from www.Donalds-hobby.com... usually can get 5955's from $85 - $95 dollars.. always brand new.

1: None of the cases had the factory seal (the clear round sticker) still attached.
2: All of the plastic bags that hold the accessories looked worn and tattered... severl even had cuts in them.
3: Pieces were missing from several of the plastic bags
4: The bungee that holds the servo to the card was torn in 2 in one servo case.
5: I've only plugged 2 of the servos into my programmer for testing... one has several tight/binding spots in the gears.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? Is their "sale" a sell-off of returned merchandise? I'm pretty concerned since these are going in a 40% airframe.

I have 3 more servos coming to me from Don's Hobby Shop... I will compare the packaging when they arrive. I'm not too happy right now.
Did you contact Servo City with your concern?

Not yet. Found the problem today (Sunday). I read their return policy and I might be screwed by them... they say they have a 30 day policy. The servos were delivered to my US address on Sep 11, but I couldn't pick them up at that time. I didn't get them from the UPS store until Oct 6th and just opened them today... it's been a while since I placed the original order. This crap always happens to me... one of the drawback of being an American gov't employee living in Canada... there are perks (like I don't have to pay the 15% tax on items from the US) but everything always takes a really long time to get to my house.

Last time I buy from Servo city though.

I checked 2 of them on an amp-meter... the current jumps by 100mA when the servos pass the tight spots in their travel.

I think it might have been a good idea to contact Servo City before I posted here, just a thought. If you explain to them the actual circumstances, you may be surprised at their response. They are a reputable company, and it very well could have been a mistake by someone in the shipping dept..

I would contact them tomorrow and see what they have to say.

You're prolly right. I tend to over-react sometimes. I have the patience of a 12-year-old

That's the plan, after I contact the vendor. They say they don't deal with third party (i.e Hitec) problems... they say to send them in directly. No problem there... HITEC has always been really good to me.

Cheers

This is why I buy from my LHS. I know its not an option for everyone, but it sure makes it easier to inspect stuff before you buy and if I need to return anything, they do so no questions asked. When you buy enough stuff and they know you at the LHS, they make stuff right when needed. If the price is higher on servos, ask your LHS about a quantity buy. I think I paid 95 bucks for 5955's last time I bought 5. I know you still have to pay sales tax but its worth a little extra to not be frustrated. A side benefit is that when you keep the LHS sales up, they stock stuff you need so you don't have to place an Internet order for 6 bucks in parts and 7 bucks shipping and a few days wait for the parts.

true point, but LHS in my town suck, and they think they're in the loop when carring Tribute foamies. They're about 4 years behind the curve.

Mine doesn't even have a store-front. He can't order from Horizon or any of the big-name companies... some sweet deals on BlueBird servos though! The bigger shop in the area is an hour away. Their prices are horrible and then I have to pay 15% tax on their horrible prices. If I order online I get good prices, no tax, and free shipping. It adds up to more than a couple bucks. All tha tbeing said, there is a new hobby shop coming to town and they expressed interest in sponsoring me... we'll see how it works out.
