Default Biff's Shootout Report!

So Tucson report Wednesday by the Biffster,
First things first, those who have worked their butts off to make the Shootout happen have REALLY done a great job. You can always tell when folks have done the leg work as there's no drama or scrambling on the flight line. This year we're looking at almost $80,000 worth of cash and prizes. Dave Johnson is to be commended for spear heading the contest as the major sponsor.

Flying Giants faithful! It's been awesome meeting some new members! Flying Giants shwag is on most of the airplanes. Coolest thing is the guys are requesting them! Hats and shirts are going like hot cakes. Sorry to say that our signal for the FGTV is sucking sand! We have a killer signal but it shuts off every five minutes. MadMAx has pulled his hair out getting back up systems up for you guys. Sadly it ain't looking to promising. We haven't given up,, keep your Giant fingers crossed.

The flying is off the hizook! Seeing these guys fly has been a real treat. Spectators aren't here in numbers yet, so we're just having fun and not doing a ton of yacking. The folks usually start showing up in force tomorrow evening. We'll be looking forward to a packed house.

Just had a beverage with Mark L, Jason S, QQ, Dave Johnson and Mike M. Everyone is relaxed and having fun. I know the pressure is starting to build as pilots start spreading elbows and figuring out what the judges are looking for to score the best. Bernd B, QQ and Kurt Koelling seem to have all the power in the world. Then I saw Mark Leseberg fly his Dalton with a DA 200. Howie (our Aussie brother said it best "Mate that thing is like a Merlin 12 cylinder on a J-3! It SNORTS!! Chip broke a wing on his Ultimate and flew an electric powered DR 330. He split right after his round to get the Ultimate back in the air for tomorrow. He's looking good.
All around the pilot pool is strong as new rope. As this is the first day and there's throw aways, the contest is really just getting started. We're here for the long haul and will keep you guys up to date as fast as we can. Keep your fingers crossed on the live feed. I'll bet MadMax will get her pumping!
The weather was perfect today. We only had one dust devil that blew right through the field. We called it early and told everyone to grab airplanes and skinny pilots. No real drama. Keep sending us good juju for wind and FGTV! We'll keep you guys up to the minute with the contest scores!!
Biff OUT!!!
