As for me touching in the 1st round... I know it was really close and I was holding my breath waiting for it to come around there. but, I didn't see, or feel it touch. (and i know what it feels like when it hits.) I have also seen pictures and close up video showing a small gap. I don't mean this in a "full-of-myself way" because i'll admit i didn't want to go that low. And i definatly dumb-thumbed it in the 2nd round when i basicly landed. But I do see how it people would see it as a touch.. But when a plane hits ground, there is a distinct bounch. And I didn't see one.

That probably sounds bad coming from me. (as the pilot) But it's how i saw it.

But, QQ won (never touched, ever). and IMO I don't think I beat Jason Noll. I still havnt figured out how my freestyle scores higher than his, because his is the most complicated free I have ever seen, and he pulls it off perfect every time. Blows my mind. I know mine are not very technical, or planed for the criteria. But freestyle is just my way of relaxing after flying IMAC. and I enjoy goofing off for a few minutes. I really am amazed that I placed in the top 5...

All in all We had fun. and that's the point of TAS.

This just shows you the difference between Kyle and Jason- didn't see Jason saying this type of stuff about Kyle .

Oh yeah, a picture is worth a thousand words!!!

I have to agree with the guys that want to see a true FREESTYLE<,, my point is that it is getting sort of boring if people really do the criteria as Jason Noll explained,,, for example I watched some of the people do there freestyle's and in my opinion it wasn't really a freestyle it was a personal precision flight of there choice,, in english if pilots fly a criteria freestyle it is truely boring,,, what happened to the days of good ole PLAIN FREESTYLE,, just a wow factor was the judgeing criteria,, don't get me wrong I like QUEQUE and most of the other pilots but im my opinion they are starting to get boring in the freestyle department,, and before anyone says anything, yes I realize that QUEQUE's freestyle was hard as crap and he showed unbelievable technical flying but it was for a spectator semi boring, except for the low passes,,, the spectators want to see on the edge LOW flying,, ,risking of aircraft, true balls of steel, , like leseburgs crash, now that was it that is what freestyle was all about, he crashed but he was attempting something that had never been seen before,, it was in retrospect an advancement of the 3d world, would have raised the bar,,,,,,,, (taking a breath) just like CHIP Hyde's walk around torque roll in the TOC 2002 that is what TRUE freestyle is all about,,,, the spectators want to see down low, heart stopping flying,, and remember the spectators is who buys the products, and in theory pays the professional pilots salaries,, so unless the freestyle changes it will get to the point were the CRITERIA,,, is going to cause people to not want to watch it,,,, anyway sorry for preaching but I think some people think like I do,,

jongurley - You said what I was trying to say a bit more elegantly!!

I think that as ones abilities improve you can be down low and show good control once a pilot has trimmed and balanced his plane - and SKILLS. It can be done but only by a few.

Thanks,

Ronster

Just as in full scale aerobatics -

Sean Tucker - Jim LeRoy, Patty Wagstaff - they all had to get low level certified before they could be allowed to perform. Doing low level precision is what its all about... OK Im off my box now..

Great post Kyle.
I am also amazed watching Jason Noll fly his Freestyles. They have elements that nobody else covers as well.

Great job this week. I enjoyed watching you fly. Your skills are truly amazing.

Sometimes I think that in any professional level sport, bussiness, hobby etc. things always seem to get political and sponser ($$$$$) corrupt. It doesn't matter if its X-Games, Ice Skating, or Flying RC, the no-name privateer will never beat a sponsered name even if they out performed them hands down. That is just the way it is. Judges can talk about it and spectators can talk about it but the under dog (the guy with no money, no name , and no sponser) will never be put on top of the pro.
