Default Zenoah or Fuji

I am making the lead into giant scale.
I just got a Goldberg Etra 300 1.20
77" wing span engine size 1.20 - 2.2 (2c glow ) 1.20 - 1.80 ( 4c glow ) 1.2 - 2.4 ( gas )

I was thinking about the Fuji BT-43EI.
I have read some not real nice stuff about Fuji's.

Do you recommend a Zenoah over a Fuji?????????
I want to go about 45cc.

DA 50! I would bet is as light or lighter than any 45cc.

Either motor is goingto put a strain on the wing loading.

I would try an EVOLUTION 35CC motor in there, or a Roto 35cc, both on pipes.
Oe the Evolution 45cc magineasium that would be the best bet!

But if you have your heart set on the two you mentioned... Zenoah is heavy but always reliable.

Sleepy is right. The Zenoah and Fuji are great engines, but made more for scale applications than aerobatics. A DA 50 has more than twice the HP of a Zenoah G38, but weighs less. I have sen the Roto 35CC and it pulls like a tractor and is very light.
Good luck!

the roto is one fine engine. i had one for quite some time and it was one of the best motors i owned aside from the buautiful powder coating and anodized blue head. you could even consider a brison 3.2!

I am trying this on a limited budjet.
I like the DA-50, but anywhere I see it it is $600.00 + need a muffler.
I can get the Fuji BT-43EI @ tower hobbies for $450.00 and a $25.00 off coupon, and it comes with a muffler. Total of $425.00

Tower says the OS max 1.60FX or the BT-43EI would be a great choice.
I really don't know, That's why I am asking here.
I fly all glow now, and in a aircraft this size I want gas, right??????? Not the 1.60FX??

Where is the best $$$ for the Desert Aircraft engines?
Thanks

yea the da and evo will be lighter than the Zenoah but in reliabalty and in $ the zenoah's are the way to go. i am running two h9 extra 260 and both have g-62's and are great and the weight is no problem. and the wing loading is not a issue like everybody says. yes da's are nice so are evo's but i am a guy who has been flying for 22 years and at the same time have a family to feed at a factory job income so the zenoah's are better for me because of the $ and there reliabilty and dependility but this is my 2CENTS

If it were mine, I would go with the 160fx, APC 18-6W, perry pump, and a bisson pitts muffler. That size plane is on the small side for gas, IMO. The OS 160 is not that bad on nitro and you can burn 5% in it and make good power. I had that combo on a 78" H9 Edge a few years ago and the power was great, and it was dead reliable.

Your are correct, but we would need to know what kind of flying the guy wants to perform.

For scale flight and some aerobatics I'm sure either the zenoah or Fuji would be fine... but if you want to 3D... the extra 2 lbs would hurt... what is your all up weight with the g62's? I am really interested to find out. From what I have seen the H9 260 with a weight over 15 lbs is really pushing the wingloading and making it slightly a brick.

I had a GP patty wagstaff with a ZDZ 50 with a 78" wingspan, weighed in at 16.9 lbs and it flew great but 3D'ing it was a non issue it floated like an anchor.

I have never even tried 3D, I am going to try to do some on a simulator, but who knows how long it would be in real life.
Now with all of my glow plane it is regular stunts. Loops, knife edge, snaps, etc etc.
So for now , no 3D
So between the zenoah or the Fuji????
Are there down sides about the Fuji ? Looks and write ups seem nice, and the $$ for a 45cc EI engine didn't seem to bad.

All info welcome.

If you are on a budget and want to do 3D, look at the CRRC Pro 45. $389
Look at the power to weight ratio and compare it to the others.

A friend of mine has the Fuji EI on a Great Planes Ultimate, It does start easily and seems to run nice. Not quite unlimited vert. but I think thats mainly because of his prop selection.

Jaybird, are you talking about the 43 EI ? And what prop is he running ? I've been kinda looking sideways at the 50 EI.

tried that once to. do it right and invest on a better engine. you will be happier in the long run even if you dont 3d. the saying is true, you get what you pay for and the handleing of that plane with these engines is going to be horrible.!

.
sleepyc- the weight is right at 16.5 lbs on one of them and that is flying weight with a 2700mah sub-c battery main pack, 1200mah reg flat battery for the smoke system, smokepump, 2- 24oz tanks, and 6 hitec servos and 9 ch recever, and a truturn 3" spinner. the other is under 15 (not sure on exact #) but it does not have any extra stuff for the smoke it was the first one and i cant rember exactaly. but supriseingly it does not fly like a heavy plane.
