The wing planform and airfoil make for very clean, predictable entries and exits. If the 260 has a weekness its in yaw damping/authority. This is only really noticable in unlimited level maneuvers (1 and 2 roll rolling circles, and long lines with multiple rolling elements), where if you're not careful with the rudder you can get mild tail wag. Once you get used to the airplane this isn't really an issue.

While I never really got that locked in feeling during a week of flying the 300 (due to low number of flights) I think the 300 keeps the same awesome snapping characteristics of the 260, with improved rudder authority and damping. Mark showed this beautifully flying the very roll heavy invitational sequences.

Both airplanes are probably among the best sequence planes out there, but if I had to choose I a new one I would go with the 300.
Before I read this entire thread I was gonna suggest you ask Ombry.
He has time on both and knows what he is talking about. Listen to him.

I'd probably go with the 260 just because I have an AM 260 and I love it.

I like the look of the 300 better than the 260 but have not flown one yet (300), I did fly the 260 from luiyo and skinnypacino the 35% and the 42% both planes track like they were on rails also light weight and both perform awesome on imac and 3d

Tony, if it was me, I'd get a carden. But from seeing kyle fly his dalton numerous times, it looks like it flys very well. From what I have seen of the 300's in the vids, it looks more like a 3D beast and then a sick imac plane, but so is the 260. As you have seen his plane before, his elevators have counter balences on them. I don't know if the 260's built w/out them fly imac stuff better. Kyle has told me that he likes his carden more than his dalton, but both are nice planes.

I also notice that people say to get the 300 only because its new.

ps. does this mean your selling the comp?

Are there any mods to the Ailerons on the 300 to reduce the servo failure on the outboard servo on the 260. We have two IMAC pliots that have on-going failures with 8611a and now on 8711s to the point of having bags of thems sent to JR and they are running three per Aileron.

Are any of you having the same thing happening!

I sorta like threads from the pre-dinosaur age...... as far as the pick between the two planes...........Well, I'll take the 300 over the 260.I voted! Now you can close her off!

I think the thread is also interessting for ohter people who would like to buy a Dalton, i just found this one few weeks ago when i searched about the Dalton 300, some more votes and opinions wouldn't be bad.

I think the Dalton 260 will be my next project for 2010, but first i have to finish my Ultimate for 2009.

regards Niklas

regardless of what the origional thread starter does/did with his decision.... there is still alot to be learned by those reading today!!!!!! i actually used this thread when i purchased mine this past winter!!!!!!!

JimC-MD, i certainly didn't want to get the STUPID vote by posting here! i just thought i'd ad my opinion as i am one who actually bought one of these planes.

Tony is flying a 40% carden 260 right now and a little EF 50cc yak. He's tearing it up bigtime! Just got done beating Kyle W at the freestyle at Molalla OR.
