By the way does anyone know who all sponsors Kyle now? I believe his talent level warrants major sponsorship along with other top pilots.

I was there for the first day of freestyle and all the freestyle guys were pulling out the stops. There was one guy that I didn't think needed to be competing in it, especially since they lowered the number of contestants this year. When I saw this guy fly, I was suprised that he made it and Frasier, AJ, and some others that have proven their worthiness didn't. I saw Kyle's first freestyle, and regardless of any speculation about everything, he deserved that second place finish and I am sure he is darn proud to have come within 5 points of beating the Godfather.
Now, his second flight definitely dirtied the tailwheel - why it didn't get zeroed is beyond me. Regardless, it's the judges ruling and I know Kyle was in control the whole time.

Hey Guy, Thanks a bunch. It was a blast. I'm at he Airport right now on my way home. Just wanted to say that my 2nd flight was indeed zeroed. But we drop one freestyle round. So i threw that score away.

Frazier and a few others did make it in, but chose not to fly. They were definatly allowed to fly in it. I beleive 5 guys turned down the freestyle by choice

QQ, Jason N., Bil H., Chip H., Jeff S., Zak W., Bernd B., Andrew J., Martin M., Jean Claude, Mark L., and Jason S. are all amazing pilots. and I was Honored to be flying with all of them.

Definatly the highlight of my year.

Kyle...

Flying skills can be learned...

Being a sportsman can't, you either have it in your personality or you don't.

Most of the top pilots have both skills and sportsmanship.

And let me say, you Sir have both, and you fit right in!!

Congratulations!

Kyles 3RD freestlye was the best in the competition in my opinion. To reverse the direction of the rollers that slow and in control, in time with the music is nothing short of amazing. The other elements of his routine were very well done and most of it was perfectly timed to the music as well.

I appreciated the flying talents of all the competitors and they all get my respect.

HEY KYLE!! Congrats on the 2nd place!! Friggin awesome man! I know all the guys over at the canby feild were pulling for ya , along with everyone in our club out here in St helens ( columbia RC flyer's). You did a great job man!! I'm not sure exactly how much flyin' you'll do over at canby this winter , but as far as my club goes , you'll always be welcome out here to fly any time. I invited Kurt Cook from fromeco , Joe Hunt , Jeff from E-Flightline and whomever else wants to come out and check out the feild. Hope i get to fly with you sometime this winter or next spring.........that would be cool!! I'm thinking maybe next year of trying to compete , but that dang sequence stuff / precision flying isn't what i like to do , i love the freestyle stuff!! anyways.....take care !! And great job !!

Thanks for clearing that up. It's interesting that they chose not to compete in freestyle. I think I understand why, because it has to be nerve racking. I know that bringing it low to the ground doesn't officially bring up scores, but I believe that audience applause does - surely you had to hear all of us going nuts in the background!!! I think it helped...Congradulations to you - you deserve it!
Quique changed it up a little, too, from his usual stuff. He is always a priveledge to watch.

I hope I didn't mean to imply conspiracy...FWIW, I didn't vote in this poll because I agree with you - they and all the others are exceptional pilots.

QQ's seemed to be the same as last years, Kyle took his to the extreme and even though the judges can't give them extra for being close to the ground, Kyle got the attention of the crowd much more than QQ's performance even as perfect as it was. IMHO, the free style should be about crowd involvement, showmanship with precision, not just super precision near the ground and it must have the crowd's involvement included in the judging... isn't that what the free style is all about in the end? It's a close call but Kyle get's my vote this year. An how about Mark Leesburg, talk about letting go, doing the extreme and crowd involvement! His performance would have taken it by a mile if it were not for the close encounter. His backup plane wasn't strong enough, he wasn't used to it plus his nerves were a bit shaken after the first attempt. BUt, Kyle took it to the extreme and made it through, great job! (impound guy)

Kyle is definetly a sportsman and a gentleman. His skills have been amazing me for years now. Remember those vids you posted on Pits Bros a couple of years ago w/the Funtana? I still watch those in amazement. I didn't vote on the poll either, doesn't really matter. What matters is these guys had fun doing what they enjoy. Hey Kyle, come say hi to us at Pits Bros sometime, we miss you buddy.

All this talk should lead to what YNOT had posted about a few weeks back.

A BALLS out full-on... crowd response takes it, no holds barred, tap the ground all you want, 3D frenzy.

A straight up - do some crazy Sheet contest.

The judging of the TAS and the XFC is structured and is awesome in its own way.
The skills shown need to be refined... this is sweet....

But it seems to me that people want a sort of underground, do it for the people, Balls out 3D contest...

So who's in?
