hey guys - yes these planes are absolute supreme quality - it has to be to compete with Krill/ comp arf and one or two others and they do - Xtreme makes no short cuts as its not worth it - you can see all the carbon etc and the finish is superb - we have not yet put one together but will soon and we will keep you posted - we(Zivo and I) are busy with the 35% - 100cc - these edge's are beauties!!!!!! just like that girl on the wall - LOL
price is steep but in line with Krill and Comp!!!! Last edited by adrian; 11-05-2006 at 08:42 AM. |

Towball,
I've got all of the parts to complete the model. Will drop it over soon so that you can take some close-ups for the manual. Within the next 24 hours. Last edited by Winged Keel; 11-06-2006 at 07:00 AM. |

Hey Dennis C, she might be out of business. Last time I checked the website still worked and she still advertises in our club's newsletter. Carla was never really good about calling people back. After the divorce she kind of let the business go.

I maidened my 2X2 last weekend.
My version was supplied by Graupner, Xtreme composite provide a few of their range to graupner and they upgrade the hardware and put in a nice manual! The Graupner version is designed for electric so the firewall isnt installed but it is supplied. I fitted mine with a DA50 (with supplied red anodized standoffs) on a 3W slimline can, Menzs 22x8, JR8411's on elevators and ailerons and a 8511 on rudder with 2x2100 4.8v batteries it came out at around 6.5 kilos. Take off was unnaventful with a couple of cliks of down elevator only required for straight n level flight. It was very sensitive to elevator movement, but this may be because of a rearwood c of g. I will put some weight up front and see what happens. I was a little worried about the lack of rudder movement but this was no worry once in the air as it knife edge looped on about 2 thirds rudder and holds a level knife edge on a small amount of rudder movement. Holding in full elevator couldnt induce a stall at idle, until I introduced rudder and then it went into a nice spin that stopped instantly when I released rudder. I really slowed it up for landing and it remaind rock solid. On my version I have a swept back F3A style undercarriage that caused a nose over when it touched down and snap went the prop! So ile be looking into a standard undercariage, but other than that an impresive plane. The DA50 is outrageous for power and verticle performance is provided at half throttle, I didnt open it up fully the whole flight (it would probably tear the wings off!) heres some pictures just before it was finnished (no spinner or aileron servos) Last edited by jaycey; 11-05-2007 at 11:17 AM. |

I have had to put 3/4Lb of lead in the nose to get the required CofG which makes the weight come out at 7.6Kilos. I have outrageous movement on my rudder, why is yours restricted? Mike |

Yep I weighed it on digital bathroom scales and it was hovering between 6.5/6 I said 'around' as I cant vouch for the accuracy of said scales.
No Idea why the movement is restricted on the rudder? It was already installed when it arrived, but it isnt a problem. My c of g is currently 135mm with 4 ounces of lead up front. The quoted 122mm measurement looked to far forward to me, but I guess it isnt far off considering mine was a little sensitive. I normaly fly pattern so prefer a more docile feeling to the plane. |

Understand on the scale's I thought you where guessing.
As your's was the Graupner version and mine is straight from Xtreme I suppose there is some difference's, I had to fit the rudder and my firewall was already installed, I know Graupner market this plane as electric so it may be lighter as well, did yours have the rear cockpit former attached or supplied? mine was on the parts list, but not supplied so I cut one out and put it in myself, see pic below which shows how much rudder movement I can get. Other photo shows my Composite ARF Extra and the Xtreme wings side by side, the similarity of construction and colour is obvious, for information the Xtreme Composite is better made and thought out. Using double carbon horns and an MVVS45 on an isolation mount in mine. As this thread is so slow just though I would add something.

Just an update to show the Logo's now on the plane, just need to paint the cowl, spats and tail, then install cockpit detail to be 100%, then all I need is some decent weather to fly in.

Just a quick pic of the underside of the wing, nothing special, just a contrast.
Carbon horns where made by me from 2mm and 1mm carbon sheet. Mike I have a Virtual Cockpit which will go in eventually, as soon as I find a suitable pilot. Last edited by BaldEagel; 12-22-2007 at 05:03 AM. Reason: EDIT: to add pic of interior |

I won this model from BVM Props Last January, and I am just getting around to building it. In fact I'm thinking of doing a build thread on FG as this is my first gasser and I am going to need some expert advice. I noticed that my former is missing as well. I saw your photos of the former you constructed, but do you know of any pics that show the former as shipped from Xtreme Composites? |
